Senior Portfolio Release Manager

PricelineToronto, ON
CA$115,000 - CA$135,000Hybrid

About The Position

Our Technology team is the backbone of our company: constantly creating, testing, learning and iterating to better meet the needs of our customers. If you thrive in a fast-paced, ideas-led environment, you’re in the right place. As a Release Manager working within a Product Operating Model (POM) — and supporting a business portfolio and platform — your role centers on orchestrating the successful and predictable release of value to end users. You ensure that product and platform teams deliver with quality, timing, and alignment, while continuously improving the release process to support agility, scale, and compliance. Release Managers are tied to support Product Groups or Products (if Product Group layer doesn’t exist).

Requirements

  • 8 -10 years of strong Agile and Project/Program Management experience, with a solid understanding of how release management integrates into iterative delivery models.
  • Led or supported cross-functional release planning, coordinated dependencies across multiple teams, and ensured smooth delivery through disciplined execution and continuous improvement.
  • Fluent in Agile ceremonies, metrics, and frameworks (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, or similar) and can apply them pragmatically to drive outcomes.
  • Understand the importance of governance, communication, and stakeholder management in scaling delivery across a portfolio.
  • Act as a bridge between rapid product development and operational stability.
  • Reduce friction and risk in the last mile of delivery, helping product and engineering teams move with confidence.
  • Proactive in identifying risks and opportunities, and comfortable making decisions with incomplete information.
  • Experienced in coordinating software releases, especially in complex environments with multiple dependencies.
  • A detail-oriented operator who thrives in fast-paced environments and can manage multiple competing priorities.
  • Illustrated history of living the values necessary to Priceline: Customer, Innovation, Team, Accountability and Trust.
  • Unquestionable integrity and ethics is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Own and maintain the release calendar, working across product, engineering, QA, and operations teams to schedule and coordinate releases.
  • Ensure that releases — especially cross-team or cross-domain ones — are well-planned, communicated, and aligned to business milestones (e.g., launches, campaigns, seasonal readiness).
  • Drive release readiness checkpoints, confirming that testing, documentation, approvals, and risk assessments are complete.
  • Identify and manage risks to release quality, timing, or rollback readiness.
  • Partner with QA and SRE/DevOps to enforce release criteria, stability gates, and post-release validation processes.
  • Maintain controls required for compliance, audit, or change management (especially in regulated environments).
  • Serve as the central point of coordination for product and platform releases — connecting engineering, product, marketing, legal, and support.
  • Ensure key stakeholders are informed of release scope, timing, and any critical changes or incidents.
  • Help shape release notes, rollout communications, or change advisories in partnership with product managers and comms leads.
  • Continuously improve the release process, tooling, and reporting to support faster, safer, and more frequent releases.
  • Partner with DevOps, SRE, and platform teams to advance CI/CD pipelines, release automation, and feature flagging strategies.
  • Support the organization’s shift toward agile and continuous delivery by evolving traditional release cadences and change control practices.
  • Track and report on release health metrics (e.g., failed deployments, change lead time, change failure rate, MTTR).
  • Facilitate release retrospectives to identify and act on improvement opportunities.
  • Help assess the business and customer impact of major releases.
