About The Position

Glumac, a Tetra Tech company, is expanding its plumbing engineering group in Southern California and is seeking a Senior Plumbing Engineer passionate about sustainable design to take a lead role on diverse projects. This role offers the chance to work on a variety of projects including healthcare, commercial, multifamily, and educational buildings. The position involves leading plumbing designs and supporting construction administration, with long-term career growth opportunities in people management, standards development, and workflow improvement.

Requirements

  • 7+ years in consulting, construction, or similar.
  • Valid PE license.
  • Proficient in Revit (BIM).
  • Strong plumbing design experience (commercial, healthcare, process, multifamily residential, and/or manufacturing).
  • Clear communicator, organized, solution-oriented, able to work independently.
  • Must be located within a commutable distance of Glumac’s Los Angeles or Irvine offices.
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis; this position is not eligible for current or future employment visa sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Medical gas or process piping experience (certifications a plus).
  • LEED, LFA, or sustainability credentials (experience with water harvesting/treatment and heat pump water heaters a plus).
  • Water treatment knowledge (experience with water softeners, descalers, interceptors, and similar treatment devices a plus).
  • Fire protection knowledge (experience with wet/dry systems and dry-agent suppression systems a plus).
  • Project Management, Business Development, or prior team leadership experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead plumbing designs and prepare construction documents.
  • Perform plumbing calculations including: fixture counts, booster pump head, ejector pump head, domestic hot water loads (including heat pump design), storm water, condensate collection, fuel oil venting etc.
  • Coordinate with ownership, mechanical, electrical, structural, and architectural teams.
  • Support Construction Administration: RFIs, submittal reviews, site visits, and field reports.
  • Adhere to QA/QC policies and escalate issues as needed.
  • Mentor junior engineers/designers and help grow the local plumbing team.
  • Assist with Business Development (BD) opportunities when needed.
