About The Position

PAE is seeking a visionary and highly technical Senior Plumbing Design Engineer in our Boston office to provide high-level project leadership and technical mastery within our plumbing department. In this role, you will be responsible for the full lifecycle of complex building projects, serving as a primary technical resource and mentor to staff. As a potential Engineer of Record (EOR), you will leverage your expertise in mechanical and plumbing systems; including fire protection requirements, to deliver innovative, code-compliant solutions while fostering strong, long-term relationships with clients and partners.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree for discipline work or equivalent experience
  • Relevant professional credential (i.e., PE, CPD)
  • Requires a minimum of 1-3 years as a Plumbing Design Lead, or 6-10 years’ related work experience
  • Inspire and motivate staff
  • Serve as a technical resource for the company
  • Advanced understanding of plumbing design concepts, code knowledge, and able to effectively communicate design options
  • Strong delegation skills
  • Attention to detail and advanced organizational skills
  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • Knowledge of applicable plumbing codes and standards including: UPC, IPC, NFPA and IBC
  • Revit/AutoCAD

Responsibilities

  • Project team leadership and management, responsible for completing the project on time within budget
  • Responsible for the preparation of deliverable documents including narratives, calculations, drawings and specifications
  • Attend client meetings, lead the coordination effort between external and internal project teams
  • Independently evaluate and apply engineering judgment, techniques, and procedures to complete a project from concepts through construction
  • Proficient in mechanical and plumbing system design
  • Assemble effective project teams
  • Develop project workplans, tasks and assignments for the team
  • Thorough understanding of interdisciplinary coordination
  • Advanced understanding of the application of building codes and plumbing industry standards
  • Oversee plumbing design calculations and equipment selection
  • Perform site visits and issues reports
  • Provide training, guidance and mentorship for staff
  • Provide updates to master specifications and standards, and improve company processes
  • Develop client relationships
  • Determine fire protection and plumbing system requirements for various building types
  • Oversee the application of the project quality management plan (QMP)
  • May be responsible as a Project Manager or the Engineer of Record (EOR) with approval
  • Perform other duties as assigned
