About The Position

The Senior Plumber installs, repairs, and routinely maintains natural gas, water, or wastewater lines and fixtures to maintain safe and effective service in City-owned buildings. The position provides journey-level instruction and leadership for lower-level plumbers, including guidance on plumbing codes, tools, and practices. The role may also perform other work as needed or assigned.

Responsibilities

• Install, repair, and maintain water fixtures on or in City property, including inspecting and repairing toilets, urinals, seats, and other plumbing fixtures and addressing clogs and damage.
• Plan and implement natural gas pipeline and potable-water or wastewater-pipe installations, including projecting parts and labor costs for improvement projects.
• Instruct and educate lower-level plumbers in the uniform plumbing code, plumbing tools, and plumbing practices.
• Lead crews to ensure work is completed according to code and maintain leave-use, hours-worked, and performance records for lower-level plumbers.
• Measure, cut, and thread iron pipe for natural gas pipelines or water and wastewater lines.
• Remove wastewater-system clogs using manual and/or small power tools.
• Perform minor mechanical repairs to small water or fuel pumps and maintain and repair irrigation lines and related issues.
• Perform other work as needed or assigned.
