About The Position

Verition Fund Management LLC is a multi-strategy, multi-manager hedge fund founded in 2008. Our software engineers address complex challenges in finance, designing core platforms, building risk management tools, and scaling distributed systems for real-time data analysis. The Platform and Infrastructure group engineers and operates foundational systems, aiming to provide a reliable, performant, and modern technology stack to accelerate market entry for the businesses they support. This role is within the Platform and Infrastructure group, focusing on the Windows Server fleet, Active Directory, and related automation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in systems or platform engineering, with a focus on Windows Server infrastructure.
  • Advanced experience with Windows Server internals, performance tuning, and operating the fleet at scale.
  • Deep, hands-on experience with Active Directory and hybrid identity (Entra ID), including domain/forest design, Group Policy, and trust relationships.
  • Strong experience automating deployment, configuration, patching, and monitoring with PowerShell, including modern configuration-management approaches (e.g., DSC, Ansible, or equivalent).
  • Experience defining and applying Windows security baselines and hardening standards (e.g., CIS Benchmarks, STIGs).
  • Experience with distributed systems and cloud platforms.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field.
  • Experience with C# / .NET sufficient to build and maintain platform tooling and integrations.
  • Experience tuning Windows for low-latency or trading-adjacent workloads.
  • Working knowledge of the Linux platform sufficient to collaborate effectively on a unified OS-platform strategy.
  • Experience with Azure and hybrid-cloud identity and infrastructure.
  • Strong working knowledge of agentic developer productivity tooling and customization such as spec-driven development, MCP servers, and Claude Code sub-agents, skills, and workflows.
  • 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional or cross-business projects.
  • Experience partnering with quantitative developers and researchers in a finance setting.
  • Contributions to relevant open-source projects.

Responsibilities

  • Engineer, automate, and operate the firm's Windows Server fleet across private data centers and cloud regions, maintaining high standards for reliability, performance, and security.
  • Own the design and operation of Active Directory and hybrid identity (Entra ID), including domain and forest architecture, Group Policy, trusts, and system integrations.
  • Build and maintain automation for deployment, configuration, patching, and monitoring using PowerShell and modern configuration management tools, treating the Windows estate as code.
  • Define and enforce Windows security baselines and hardening standards, collaborating with Security Engineering on patching, privileged access, and credential strategy.
  • Tune Windows Server for demanding, latency-sensitive workloads, working from the hardware and kernel level.
  • Contribute to the overall OS-platform technical strategy, ensuring Windows expertise informs decisions for a coherent strategy across all operating systems.
  • Partner with Data Center & Fleet Infrastructure on provisioning and asset management, and with Developer Tools & Infrastructure on build and CI integration.
  • Provide production support for the Windows environment, including on-call rotation, and drive improvements in reliability and observability.
  • Mentor other engineers on Windows internals, identity, and automation, enhancing the team's overall capabilities.
