About The Position

Airbnb's Business Technology (Biztech) organization is responsible for scaling internal operations. Within Biztech, the Finance Accounting Platform team manages the core finance accounting platform, which records, processes, and reports the financial lifecycle of Airbnb's offerings. The Senior Platform Manager will be part of a cross-functional community, partnering with Product and Platform Managers across various business units, as well as Finance stakeholders. This role involves working closely with Data Engineers and Oracle Applications teams, and collaborating with FP&A and Business Unit teams. The ideal candidate thrives at the intersection of finance, product, and engineering, acting as a connective link across a diverse community.

Requirements

  • Subject matter expert in accounting principles and ASC 606 revenue recognition, with the ability to apply standards to complex, multi-product digital marketplace environments.
  • Proven experience implementing end-to-end accounting workflows across quote-to-cash cycles, including reporting and reconciliation.
  • Hands-on experience supporting B2C product workflows on finance platforms, ideally at a high-growth, high-transaction-volume technology company.
  • Solid SQL skills and proven ability to work with large, complex datasets, including writing performant queries, aggregating high-cardinality transactional data, and troubleshooting data anomalies at scale.
  • Deep understanding of big data principles, including distributed data processing, batch vs. streaming pipelines, data partitioning strategies, data lake vs. data warehouse architectures, and tradeoffs between latency, throughput, and consistency at high volume.
  • Strong grasp of transactional data characteristics, including event-driven data structures, ACID properties, immutability of financial records, audit trail and lineage requirements, multi-currency and multi-entity data handling, and period-end cutoff logic.
  • Familiarity with subledger to General Ledger data flows, understanding how product-level financial events are transformed, aggregated, and posted as journal entries, and how to validate accuracy across that chain.
  • Experience working with or alongside Oracle FAH, General Ledger, or equivalent ERP platforms.
  • Ability to engage with technical design documents and align with engineering teams on implementation specifications.
  • Familiarity with data pipeline architecture and monitoring controls, including SLA management, data quality checks, alerting frameworks, and reconciliation workflows.
  • Actively leverages AI tools and technologies to accelerate productivity, improve analytical workflows, and identify opportunities to automate repetitive processes.
  • 6+ years of experience in platform management, product management, or technical program management with a strong finance and accounting data focus.
  • Demonstrated ability to own and manage a complex, multi-stakeholder platform roadmap with a high volume of competing priorities.
  • Proven track record of driving end-to-end delivery in cross-functional environments.
  • Experience operating in Agile and continuous delivery models.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to modulate depth and style based on audience.
  • Strong influencing skills and high EQ; proven ability to drive alignment across diverse, senior stakeholders without direct authority.
  • Detail-oriented and highly analytical; comfortable structuring ambiguous problems and driving to clear outcomes.
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace, Slack, Zoom, and modern collaboration tools.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Accounting, Finance, or a related technical field.

Responsibilities

  • Define and drive the long-term roadmap for the finance accounting platform to ensure scalability for new product lines, geographies, and business models.
  • Own prioritization across a high-volume platform funnel, balancing competing requests with structured decision-making.
  • Identify opportunities to optimize platform performance and reliability.
  • Lead the end-to-end process for bringing new products to life on the accounting platform, from accounting impact assessment to solution design, engineering alignment, UAT, release coordination, and production normalization.
  • Translate complex product changes into well-designed accounting workflows that record product lifecycle financials to Oracle FAH GL.
  • Help define and refine data pipeline monitoring controls.
  • Support month-end close processes.
  • Partner with Finance stakeholders to automate manual operational workflows.
  • Improve the accuracy, timeliness, and reliability of financial data.
  • Sync with cross-functional Product Managers to understand product changes and assess accounting implications.
  • Review technical specifications with Data Engineering for new accounting workflows.
  • Run UAT sessions with stakeholders to validate financial lifecycle recording.
  • Pull and analyze ad hoc data using SQL to support Finance or FP&A teams.
  • Triage and prioritize new requests for the platform funnel, aligning stakeholders on sequencing and tradeoffs.
  • Review data pipeline monitoring alerts and work with engineering to resolve control gaps.
  • Lead working sessions with Treasury or Collections to map out automation opportunities.
  • Draft platform updates for Finance leadership, translating technical changes into business impact.
