About The Position

Our Client is a global financial services firm located in NYC. Our client's Electronic Trading Infrastructure is looking for a hands-on Senior Systems Linux Specialist to help lead, design, and integrate/build the low-latency operating system and physical infrastructure to allow the firms Electronic Trading. The successful candidate will work in tight collaboration across our engineering, release management, operations and estate management teams with a keen attention on quality, testing, and validation of surrounding dependencies.

Requirements

  • Linux Depth: Comfortable building systems from scratch, changing configuration and amending code-paths and debugging core-dumps.
  • Hardware Depth: Comfortable with the internals of servers and principles of drivers with a key focus.
  • FPGA Knowledge: High-levels of proficiency in the how/why for Hardware Acceleration in workloads and the most common methods of developing, deploying and managing this specialized hardware.
  • Performance Depth: Tuning systems or networks of systems for performance.
  • Operational Excellence: Make decisions based on data rather than assumptions. Experience with data analytics and pipelines from scratch.
  • Network Knowledge: High levels of proficiency in network principles (routing & switching) for the first hop off the box as well as a thorough understanding of the TCP/IP protocol stack.
  • Leadership: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment requiring clarity-of-thought and articulations across a diverse range of stakeholders to drive outcomes. Ability to identify work, work independently and solve problems.
  • Fearless Engineering: Willingness to move outside comfort zone to pick up new skills and solve broader problems across the technology stack.
  • Technical Excellence: Ability to speak to trade-offs and have implemented industry best practices in Infrastructure-as-Code, continuous delivery, automated testing, security practices, performance, high-availability and disaster-recovery.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, design, and integrate/build the low-latency operating system and physical infrastructure for electronic trading.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, release management, operations, and estate management teams.
  • Focus on quality, testing, and validation of surrounding dependencies.
  • Develop and grow as an engineer by exploring new technologies.
  • Optimize manual and tedious tasks across the trading infrastructure.
  • Deliver projects of expanding impact and improve professional skills.
  • Partner with senior leadership on objectives.
  • Build systems from scratch, change configurations, amend code-paths, and debug core-dumps.
  • Work with the internals of servers and principles of drivers.
  • Demonstrate high levels of proficiency in Hardware Acceleration for workloads and managing specialized hardware.
  • Tune systems or networks of systems for performance.
  • Perform data analytics and build data pipelines.
  • Demonstrate high levels of proficiency in network principles (routing & switching) and the TCP/IP protocol stack.
  • Drive outcomes by articulating clearly across diverse stakeholders.
