About The Position

The Senior Platform Engineer is part of Parametric IT’s Developer Experience department and partners with cloud-native application development teams that have direct business alignment. The role enables teams to deliver quality software at high velocity, receive actionable feedback, and foster continuous experimentation. It also creates reusable components and workflows that improve the developer experience.

The Platform Engineering team supports developer enablement and system reliability throughout the software development lifecycle. Its work includes collaborating with cloud-native and self-hosted application teams, automating non-production environments, designing and operating development toolchains and CI/CD pipelines, maintaining Kubernetes container orchestration, and providing observability through monitoring tools. The role follows Parametric’s hybrid working model: three days per week in the office, with the remaining days worked remotely or in the office.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related area of study.
• At least 5 years of hands-on Platform Engineering experience, such as DevOps, SysOps, or SRE, with a proven record of people and thought leadership in achieving strategic objectives.
• At least 5 years of hands-on experience with cloud-native solution architectures and related platform support, such as cybersecurity, Infrastructure as Code, and observability.
• Ability to work hands-on and contribute to platform engineering solutions.
• Expertise in cloud-native automation strategies, including pipelines, Infrastructure as Code, and test suites.
• Proven experience with AWS and/or Azure cloud platforms.
• Experience using GitHub and engineering YAML-based CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience implementing and operating container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes.
• Ability to collaborate across technology teams with a developer enablement mindset.
• Experience integrating vulnerability management tools, including SAST and SCA scanning, with the SDLC toolchain.
• Experience using generative AI tools to improve software development and testing productivity.
• Expertise in scripting with Python, Bash, and PowerShell.

Nice To Haves

• Experience implementing Infrastructure as Code using Terraform; Terraform is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Act as a subject matter expert in delivering and operating reliable, performant, robust, and secure applications.
• Work with development teams to design, document, create, and maintain highly available systems.
• Design, implement, and manage centralized monitoring solutions that provide timely, actionable feedback to development teams.
• Partner with application development teams to create workflows, processes, automation, and tooling.
• Foster an environment of continuous experimentation and learning.
• Contribute to the evolution of cloud-focused architecture to increase its flexibility and ease of use.
• Follow technology trends and tools and recommend improvements when appropriate.
• Mentor new or less senior team members.
• Share experience, knowledge, and ideas to improve team processes and productivity.
• Provide tier 2 and tier 3 escalations for related issues and questions.
