About The Position

We are currently seeking a qualified Senior Planner to join our Mining team, based out of Leroy, SK. The Senior Planner will be responsible for accountable for the development, integration, control, and recovery of commissioning schedules for large, complex capital projects. This role provides senior‑level leadership in commissioning‑driven planning, including site sequencing, resource loading, productivity analysis, and schedule recovery. The Senior Planner ensures commissioning activities are fully integrated with construction inputs to support safe, efficient, and predictable field execution. This position supports site‑based commissioning teams and provides expert planning guidance to project and client leadership throughout all phases of commissioning execution. Please note: This position is not eligible for a relocation subsidy or living‑out allowance. This is a camp‑based role with the option of a 14‑day on / 7‑day off rotation (10 hr.) Alternative rosters to be considered. Hatch and Bantrel have formed the Hatch Bantrel Joint Venture (HBJV) to execute engineering, procurement construction and commissioning on the Jansen Potash Mine Project in Saskatchewan. After successfully completing the Definition Phase Study for the project, the HBJV is currently carrying out the Detailed Engineering Phase for the Processing, Non-Process Infrastructure (NPI) and Mining Areas of the 4.5 Mtpa Stage 1 Potash Mine. With a published TIC of US $5.3-5.7 Billion this will represent one of the largest projects and private investments in Canada. The HBJV will use a hybrid of best-in-class new developing technologies and systems as well as the proven HBJV suite of tools to execute this exciting project. Requirements

  • 12+ years of experience performing, monitoring, and reviewing commissioning planning and scheduling functions on large mining EPC/EPCM projects.
  • 12+ years of experience on major capital commissioning projects, including site-based execution in camp or rotational environments.
  • Extensive experience performing, monitoring, and reviewing commissioning, planning and scheduling functions on large EPC/EPCM projects.
  • Strong knowledge of commissioning sequencing, field execution, productivity analysis, and schedule recovery techniques.
  • Demonstrated leadership capability, with experience directing and mentoring planning personnel.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to present schedule information to construction, project, and client leadership.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in camp‑based or rotational commissioning environments.
  • Advanced proficiency in commissioning scheduling tools (e.g., Primavera P6).
  • Broad understanding of engineering, procurement, contracts, and commissioning workflows as they relate to site execution.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and integration of commissioning execution schedules, including sequencing, workface planning, and installation logic across all disciplines.
  • Establish, analyze, and maintain commissioning milestones and ensure schedule logic supports site execution strategies and contractual requirements.
  • Review construction activities to confirm schedules support safe, efficient, and constructible work execution.
  • Coordinate the timely and complete acquisition of scope definition, quantities, and field data required to support commissioning planning.
  • Plan, organize, and supervise commissioning resource loading and leveling, including craft labor, supervision, and support personnel.
  • Coordinate development of bulk commodity release and installation curves aligned with commissioning sequencing.
  • Perform and validate commissioning productivity analyses, establishing productivity bases in coordination with Commissioning Management.
  • Review labor and staffing estimates for reasonableness and alignment with construction execution strategies.
  • Monitor and report commissioning critical path and schedule performance for the total project.
  • Lead construction‑focused schedule impact analyses and prepare Schedule Impact Reports.
  • Develop, evaluate, and lead commissioning schedule recovery plans, including analysis of additional resources, resequencing, or shift work required to regain schedule.
  • Identify schedule constraints arising from interdisciplinary, site, or access limitations and recommend corrective actions.
  • Ensure total integration of construction schedule activities across engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
  • Interface with Bantrel management and client counterparts on construction planning and schedule matters.
  • Support proposal planning, bid evaluations, and vendor discussions as required, with a focus on commissionng execution risk and schedule viability.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and on‑the‑job training to construction planners and schedulers.
  • Participate in performance reviews, interviews, and hiring recommendations when delegated.
  • Support the development and continuous improvement of construction planning standards, procedures, and historical data.
