About The Position

Amentum Nuclear Projects is a Tier 1 service provider to the U.S. Department of Energy, delivering safe and innovative solutions at complex nuclear cleanup and production sites. Services include program management, decommissioning, environmental remediation, waste and nuclear material management, nuclear operations, consulting, and engineering and construction. This role involves delivering a range of projects from concept through detailed design completion, leading groups of engineers and designers to complete technical portions of projects within established budgets and schedules. The work will be performed in Oak Ridge, TN with potentially some travel.

Requirements

  • B.S. Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited engineering school.
  • Knowledge and experience designing process piping, gas piping and other related systems.
  • Demonstrated experience of delivering a range of projects from concept through detailed design completion.
  • Strong mechanical and process engineering analytical skills.
  • Experience leading groups of engineers and designers to complete technical portions of projects within established budgets and schedules.
  • Experience working within a quality system based on ISO 9000 or NQA-1.
  • Design experience with AMSE B31.1 and B31.3 and ASME B&PV Code.
  • Knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid flow – compressible and incompressible, thermal sciences, and process systems.
  • Competent using discipline specific technical software such as: AutoPipe, Caesar II, AutoCAD, Microstation, etc.
  • Competent using Microsoft Office software.
  • US citizen required.
  • Engineering Registration (PE) required.
  • Valid driver's license is required.
  • Ability to work in the Oak Ridge office is required.
  • Must be able to work in a team atmosphere.
  • Must put forward a professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation.
  • Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
  • Must take and pass a pre-employment drug and background check.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience performing pipe stress analysis highly desired.
  • Master’s degree is a plus.
  • DOE Q clearance is preferred but not required.
  • A person residing a commutable distance from our Oak Ridge, TN office is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver a range of projects from concept through detailed design completion.
  • Lead groups of engineers and designers to complete technical portions of projects within established budgets and schedules.
  • Design process piping, gas piping, and other related systems.
  • Perform pipe stress analysis.
  • Utilize discipline-specific technical software such as AutoPipe, Caesar II, AutoCAD, Microstation, etc.
  • Utilize Microsoft Office software.
  • Work near construction job site equipment when in the field.
  • Work near hazardous equipment and machinery.
  • Work on uneven ground.
  • Work at heights.
