This role is for a Senior Piping Engineer who will be generally responsible for performing all aspects of complex mechanical engineering design. The work requires extensive progressive experience in mechanical engineering and involves applying advanced engineering techniques and analysis. The engineer will work under general supervision and will be involved in various project tasks, including on-site assistance during startup. Responsibilities include utilizing department design standards, understanding project scope and criteria, performing stress analysis, developing specifications for construction and materials, creating conceptual layouts and cost studies, producing preliminary designs and material take-offs, and generating detailed design calculations and sketches. The engineer will also assist the drafting group, consult with other disciplines, review vendor and other discipline drawings, design for efficient material use and ease of construction, check calculations by others, advise on design changes, assist in preparing purchase inquiries, develop construction specifications, review fabrication drawings, perform fieldwork for data gathering and construction support, and provide technical guidance to less experienced personnel. The role requires knowledge of discipline-specific methods, practices, and techniques for engineering, designing, and constructing projects, recognizing and communicating scope changes, and coordinating work with teammates and the discipline lead. Applying advanced engineering techniques to complex designs, estimating and scheduling professional service hours, assessing progress and quality of mechanical work, and understanding engineering and design functions are key. The ability to identify and develop work-sharing packages, provide leadership for communication and execution within scope, schedule, and budget is also expected.
