Senior Piping Designer

ICM Ventures•Colwich, KS

About The Position

The Senior Piping Designer provides advanced drafting and piping design support to the Design Services team and directs and quality-checks the work of other designers. The role completes projects accurately and on schedule, works independently, and develops project scope and procedures with input from team leaders and managers. The position produces 2D and 3D design and construction drawings for piping systems, including complex layouts and models based on P&IDs. Work includes field walk-downs and tie-in measurements, equipment and structural modeling, isometric drawings, bills of material, line lists, and tie-in lists. The designer interprets piping stress analysis reports and collaborates with stress engineers to achieve safe and economical designs, while incorporating safety, operability, maintainability, and constructability. The role participates in P&ID reviews, project meetings, and design and model reviews; coordinates with project teams, customers, structural and stress engineers, and third-party designers; and mentors and trains designers and drafters. It also supports engineering standards and procedures, manages drawing revisions and document submittals, estimates and monitors design hours and schedules, checks others’ work, and provides progress feedback and recommendations for improvement. Travel to obtain field measurements and understand project scope may be required, up to 10% of the time.
