Senior Piping Designer

Worley•Commerce City, CO
•$54 - $70•Onsite

About The Position

The Senior Piping Designer will provide field engineering and design expertise after construction to ensure facilities have accurate as-built documentation. The role supports operations, maintenance, and future project planning by validating installed systems, identifying discrepancies, and ensuring design documents reflect field conditions. It is a highly technical, field-focused position serving as an interface among design, construction, and operations. The position is based in Colorado and is primarily performed on-site. Field work may involve outdoor work in varying or extreme weather, remote locations with limited immediate assistance, heights, confined or restricted-access areas, noise, heavy equipment, and active construction or operating environments. Schedules or hours may be irregular or extended depending on project requirements. The role is safety-sensitive and requires working safely, independently, and as part of a team. Worley is a global energy, chemicals, and resources company headquartered in Australia. It partners with customers across the asset lifecycle, providing consulting, engineering, procurement, construction, operations, and decommissioning services, and supports customers as they transition to more sustainable solutions. The stated pay rate is $54.00–$70.00 per hour, commensurate with experience. The position is eligible for PTO, 401(k), medical, vision, and dental benefits.

Requirements

  • Piping design experience with field engineering experience, or an equivalent trade qualification supported by relevant industry experience.
  • Typically 7+ years of experience in piping, field engineering, construction, or commissioning within industrial or EPC environments.
  • Proven experience performing piping walkdowns and system verification on small and medium projects.
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, isometric drawings, and construction documentation.
  • Experience identifying and resolving field-versus-design discrepancies.
  • Strong communication skills, including clearly documenting issues, providing structured feedback, and collaborating across teams.
  • Strong knowledge of field systems, processes, and tools, including the ability to troubleshoot and support continuous improvement.
  • Safety-first mindset and commitment to quality, compliance, and operational integrity.
  • Ability to walk, stand, and climb for extended periods; wear personal protective equipment for extended durations; maintain situational awareness in safety-sensitive environments; and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity, coordination, and balance.
  • Ability to perform work safely in a potentially remote environment, both independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed piping system walkdowns to verify installation against issued-for-construction drawings, isometrics, and P&IDs.
  • Compare field conditions with design intent and identify discrepancies, constructability issues, and operational risks.
  • Mark up drawings with field revisions to accurately reflect as-built conditions.
  • Document safety concerns, operational constraints, and system deficiencies observed during field verification.
  • Coordinate with piping design teams, including offshore teams, to incorporate redlines and as-built data into design deliverables.
  • Support safe execution of field activities by identifying hazards and ensuring compliance with project and site safety requirements.
