About The Position

The Department of Rehabilitation Therapies at the University of Iowa Health Care North Liberty Campus is looking for a Senior Physical Therapist to evaluate and treat patients with complex physical dysfunctions, disorders and/or injuries. This position will be assigned to the inpatient orthopedics setting. Provide quality patient care, evaluation, assessment and treatment appropriate for patient’s needs. Assignment will primarily be to adult inpatient acute care setting. Evaluate and instruct patients in home treatment programs. Perform routine and assigned administrative tasks in an efficient manner. Participate in divisional quality/process improvement activities and recommend opportunities for improvement in service quality. Attend and participate in educational programs and provide educational experiences as assigned. Maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students and the public. Performs special projects and tasks as assigned. The University of Iowa Health Care North Liberty Campus opened in the Spring of 2025. This 469,000 square foot facility is home to UI Health Care’s nationally recognized Orthopedics service line, offering comprehensive, coordinated, and accessible care across the outpatient, inpatient and surgical venues. These state-of-the-art clinical facilities will also include a full-service community imaging center, laboratory services, physical therapy, occupational therapy, retail pharmacy, and emergency department as well as an array of support services. Requirements

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy or a Bachelor’s degree in another field and a Physical Therapy Certificate is required
  • 2 years of experience as a Physical Therapist in an acute care hospital setting is required, with a high degree of understanding and skill in one or more areas of assigned responsibility
  • Demonstrated clinical education abilities and leadership is required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required
  • Licensure in accordance with the Iowa Board of Physical and Occupational Therapy is required

Nice To Haves

  • 3+ years of experience as a Physical Therapist with advanced understanding and skill in providing occupational therapy primarily to adults in an inpatient acute care setting.
  • Reasonable (1-3 years) experience in evaluation and treatment of patients in inpatient orthopedics.
  • Demonstrates leadership abilities
  • Demonstrates experience as part of a multidisciplinary medical team
  • Job related experience with and/or commitment to service excellence
