About The Position

The Senior Pharmacy Technician at Providence Newberg Medical Center in Newberg, OR performs duties relating to the filling and dispensing of unit dose and stock medications from the pharmacy to the nursing units and other ancillary departments in a prompt accurate manner. This role involves filling/dispensing oral and IV medications, triaging patient orders, and maintaining the integrity of the automated dispensing system (ADS). The Senior Pharmacy Technician possesses advanced knowledge and skills in two or more specialty areas within the pharmacy. Requirements

H.S. Diploma or GED
Oregon Certified Oregon Pharmacy Technician or Oregon Pharmacy Technician License upon hire
2 years minimum of pharmacy practice in an integrated health system and PTCB certification
OR 3 years hospital pharmacy if technician does not have PTCB certification
Previous experience with Automated Dispensing Machines (ADMs)
Previous experience with electronic health records (EHR)

Nice To Haves

Graduate of a Pharmacy Technician program
Advanced PTCB certificate (e.g., compounded sterile products, advanced certified pharmacy technician, medication history certificate, controlled substances)
Specialty certification (e.g. ACPE approved sterile compounding certification) where applicable by role and state

Responsibilities

Fill and dispense unit dose and stock medications from the pharmacy to nursing units and other ancillary departments.
Fill and dispense oral and IV medications.
Triage patient orders.
Maintain the integrity of the automated dispensing system (ADS).
Utilize advanced knowledge and skills in two or more specialty areas in the pharmacy.
