About The Position

Caterpillar’s Aftertreatment & Exhaust Systems organization is seeking a Senior Performance, Simulation, and Application Engineer to provide technical leadership across simulation, controls development, software integration, rapid prototyping, and validation of advanced aftertreatment systems and mechatronic components. The role serves as the aftertreatment software lead, providing technical direction and coordinating software and calibration activities across development programs. It develops and manages software schedules, tracks deliverables, identifies execution risks, and coordinates work to ensure software and calibrations are ready for program timing and validation needs. The position contributes to high-level software and controls strategies and develops and maintains rapid-prototyping software and simulation tools to support laboratory testing, early technology validation, and control-strategy selection and refinement. It plans and executes testing of components and technologies such as emissions sensors and dosing pumps, and performs co-simulation using Dynasty. GT-POWER experience is a plus. The engineer collaborates with cross-functional partners, including CATE and LPSD Mechatronics teams, to coordinate software, controls, calibration, development, and validation. The role communicates program timing and technical status, reviews control strategies, resolves cross-functional issues, and helps transition laboratory-developed software and controls into production applications. The position is onsite five days a week in Mossville, Illinois. Domestic relocation assistance is available; visa sponsorship is not available.
