About The Position

Caterpillar’s Aftertreatment & Exhaust Systems organization is seeking a Senior Performance, Simulation, and Application Engineer to provide technical leadership across simulation, controls development, software integration, rapid prototyping, and validation of advanced aftertreatment systems and mechatronic components. The position serves as the software lead for aftertreatment development, providing technical direction and coordinating software and calibration activities across programs. The engineer develops and manages aftertreatment software schedules, tracks software and calibration deliverables, identifies execution risks, and coordinates work to ensure calibrations and software releases align with program timing and validation needs. The role also contributes to high-level software and controls strategies. The engineer develops and maintains rapid-prototyping software and simulation tools for laboratory testing, early validation of emerging technologies, and selection and refinement of control strategies. The work includes planning and executing tests of components and technologies such as emissions sensors, dosing pumps, and other mechatronic devices, as well as co-simulation using Dynasty. GT-POWER experience is a plus. The position collaborates with cross-functional engineering partners, including CATE and LPSD Mechatronics teams, to coordinate software, controls, calibration, development, and validation activities. The engineer communicates program timing and technical status, reviews control strategies, resolves cross-functional issues, and helps transition laboratory-developed software and controls solutions into production applications. The role is onsite five days a week in Mossville, Illinois.
