About The Position

As a Senior Perception Component Platform Lead you manage multiple camera component development programs that aligns with our corporate needs, then work with your Caterpillar team and/or suppliers to design, develop, deliver and qualify the perception component for Caterpillar autonomous, automated safety and base machine systems.

Requirements

  • Requires a degree in an accredited Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science curriculum.
  • Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
  • Relationship Management: Knowledge of relationship management techniques; ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with clients, vendors, and peers.
  • Technical Excellence: Knowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges.
  • Project Management: Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.
  • Electronics Engineering - HTH: Knowledge of electronics engineering; ability to design, test and manufacture electronic circuits, components and devices.
  • Supplier Management - MFG: Knowledge of processes and methods to effectively manage business relationships and transactions with suppliers of raw materials or product components; ability to apply related knowledge, experience and skills into real practice.
  • Troubleshooting Technical Problems: Knowledge of troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, detect and resolve technical problems in a manufacturing and product development environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong communication and organizational skills that will be utilized in the planning, execution, and communication process of an electronic component development program from working level engineers to senior leaders.
  • Ability to establish a vision for the product and work a generational delivery plan.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills to go along with degree from an accredited engineering program.
  • Previous experience in delivering perception components, like cameras or others, to production as a working level engineer and/or as a lead engineer.
  • Previous experience with supplier interaction, tier 1, tier 2 and contract manufacturers.
  • Previous experience in system integration of perception components, like cameras or others.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinating with the business, product and system partners to manage resources for each deliverable within the camera perception component project.
  • Overseeing and driving project progress; monitoring costs; communicating status with stakeholders and participating functional areas; addressing and resolving problems.
  • Directing project staffing; motivating and developing project team and team members.
  • Communicating with customers and managing expectations; ensuring effective use of project controls and reporting mechanisms.
