Senior People Transformation Strategist

DoorDash USAWashington, DC

About The Position

We are building a more efficient, intelligent, and AI-enabled People Operating System. As a Senior People Transformation Strategist, you will lead the design and execution of transformation initiatives that fundamentally reshape how the People function operates at DoorDash and Wolt. This is not a role for someone who optimizes at the margins. The first hire in this function will help define how this team operates — bringing both the discipline to execute and the judgment to shape what we build. You'll own significant workstreams within a broader transformation roadmap, diagnosing structural inefficiencies, redesigning processes end-to-end, and implementing scalable, AI-enabled solutions that change how work gets done across the organization. This role is equal parts strategic design, execution, and change leadership: success is not just delivering solutions, but ensuring they are adopted and deliver measurable, lasting impact. You will partner closely with COEs, People Business Partners, Product, Engineering, and Operations teams globally, and report to the Senior Manager, People Process Transformation and Continuous Improvement. Success in this role looks like: faster, simpler processes; high adoption of new ways of working; clear, measurable improvements in efficiency, quality, and employee experience — and a People function that is increasingly built for an AI-first environment.

Requirements

  • 6–9+ years of experience in process transformation, operations, or strategy — including experience operating as a strategic partner to senior leaders or acting in a program leadership capacity
  • Demonstrated ability to work in or design for AI-enabled environments — whether through prior experience with AI tools, workflow automation, or rethinking how work gets done in an AI-first context
  • Proven track record of delivering measurable, large-scale improvements (e.g., reduced cycle time, cost savings, increased quality or adoption) with clear ownership over outcomes
  • Experience driving significant change management and adoption of new processes, systems, or tools across complex, cross-functional organizations
  • Strong program and process logic — you think in systems, anticipate second-order effects, and know how to sequence work for maximum leverage
  • Track record of operating with a high degree of autonomy and acting as a thought partner to senior leaders, not just an executor of defined workstreams
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and a rapidly evolving environment where the function itself is being redesigned, not just optimized
  • Data-driven mindset with the ability to define success metrics, measure impact, and use data to influence direction
  • Clear, compelling communicator who can influence without direct authority and translate complex changes into actionable guidance for diverse audiences

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with structured process improvement approaches (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, or equivalent) is a plus — but what matters most is the ability to diagnose problems clearly and drive measurable change; a certification is not a substitute for judgment

Responsibilities

  • Act as a strategic partner and program owner across high-impact transformation initiatives spanning People functions (e.g., HR, Talent Acquisition, onboarding, lifecycle processes)
  • Diagnose current-state processes to identify structural inefficiencies, root causes, and automation opportunities — and redesign them from the ground up where needed
  • Partner with Product and Engineering to deliver scalable, AI-enabled solutions that change how the People function operates, not just how it executes
  • Bring an AI-first mindset to every workstream — actively exploring how AI tools and automation can replace, simplify, or elevate the work
  • Drive change management for new ways of working, including stakeholder alignment, communication, and rollout planning across global teams
  • Assess change impacts, identify risks, and build mitigation plans to support successful implementation
  • Develop enablement materials (e.g., playbooks, training, guidance) to ensure teams can effectively adopt new processes
  • Define and track success metrics (e.g., time savings, SLA improvements, quality, adoption) and iterate based on results
  • Facilitate cross-functional working sessions to align on requirements and move initiatives forward
  • Build and maintain dashboards or reporting to monitor process performance and identify gaps

Benefits

  • 401(k) plan with employer matching
  • 16 weeks of paid parental leave
  • wellness benefits
  • commuter benefits match
  • paid time off
  • paid sick leave
  • medical, dental, and vision benefits
  • 11 paid holidays
  • disability and basic life insurance
  • family-forming assistance
  • mental health program
