Requirements

  • Certification in Payroll Compliance (PCP) or equivalent experience (minimum 5 years) in a payroll/benefits role.
  • In-depth knowledge of Canadian and U.S. payroll regulations and benefits administration.
  • Proficient with payroll systems such as ADP, Dayforce, or UKG, and intermediate Excel
  • Bilingual: French and English (Spanish considered an asset).
  • Strong attention to detail, discretion, and a high degree of confidentiality.
  • Customer-centric mindset - you treat every employee inquiry as a priority, with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Analytical and problem-solving mindset; able to interpret data and suggest process improvements.
  • Efficient and process-flexible - comfortable adapting quickly as systems, tools, and procedures evolve.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a multinational company or manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Experience with com considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Process regular payroll for salaried and hourly employees in compliance with applicable regulations and company policies.
  • Calculate wages, bonuses, shift premiums, and other compensation components.
  • Maintain accurate payroll records, including salary changes, deductions, and tax withholdings.
  • Ensure timely remittance of payroll taxes and completion of government-mandated reports.
  • Respond to employee inquiries and investigate and resolve payroll-related discrepancies and issues promptly.
  • Collaborate with HR personnel to ensure payroll accuracy and compliance.
  • Develop and maintain standardized payroll procedures and documentation.
  • Manage employee enrollment, changes, and terminations in group benefits programs.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee questions regarding benefits plans.
  • Liaise with benefits providers to resolve issues and ensure accurate administration across divisions.
  • Communicate benefits-related updates and provide support during annual enrollment.
  • Stay informed on federal and regional payroll legislation to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Prepare and file year-end tax documents, reports, and statements for all relevant jurisdictions.
  • Support general ledger activities by assisting with payroll journal entries.
  • Maintain accurate employee payroll profiles (e.g., pay rates, cost centers, job classifications).
  • Assist with internal and external audits related to payroll and benefits data.
  • Generate periodic reports on compensation, deductions, and benefits utilization.
  • Prepare payroll costing reports to support labor cost analysis and budgeting.
  • Produce ad hoc reports as requested by HR, finance, and management.
  • Provide guidance to HR teams and employees regarding payroll and benefits policies and procedures.
  • Conduct training sessions on systems and processes (e.g., timecard approvals, PTO tracking, vacation policies).
  • Lead portions of employee orientation relating to payroll and benefits.
