Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, ABA approved Paralegal Certificate preferred
  • At least five (5) years Paralegal experience
  • A strong understanding of general litigation
  • Ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Knowledge of legal holds and discovery process
  • Expert experience identifying, collecting, and preserving digital and physical evidence
  • Ability to identify, prioritize and solve problems effectively regarding basic matters
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as a strong attention to detail
  • Basic budget management skills and ability to review invoices consistent with our billing guidelines
  • Strong interpersonal skills, advanced written and oral communication skills
  • Adapts well to change
  • Able to multi-task and make effective decisions in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • A proactive self-starter who is able to manage his/her time effectively and work independently

Responsibilities

  • Support attorneys in a broad range of commercial, consumer, labor & employment, and other litigation matters from initial filing through resolution.
  • Lead and coordinate discovery-related work, including litigation hold implementation, document collection, custodian outreach, document organization, and production workflows.
  • Assist with preparing and reviewing written discovery materials and support deposition preparation.
  • Serve as a liaison between outside counsel, in-house counsel, e-Discovery vendors, and internal business partners to facilitate timely and defensible collection and production of documents and data.
  • Maintain matter files, deadlines, and reporting metrics in electronic matter-management and document management systems.
  • Undertake internal leadership responsibilities, including teaching, training, coaching, and supporting all members of the Litigation and Labor and Employment teams, as well as preparing and conducting trainings on relevant litigation topics for other business units.
  • Research, gather, organize, prepare, and summarize relevant materials for use by the team in a broad range of labor and employment and general litigation matters.
  • Coordinate the signatures of legal documents in accordance with a defined process.
  • Review and draft various types of agreements and correspondence in accordance with defined rules and checklists and under supervision and training of attorneys.
  • Assist counsel in preparing materials for mediation/arbitration.
  • Assist with the identification and summarizing of relevant issues.
  • Continually monitor case issues and update attorneys, as appropriate.
