About The Position

CACI is seeking talented Senior Paralegal professionals to support the Department of Justice’s mission, specifically within the Radiation Exposure Compensation Program (“RECA”). This role offers invaluable knowledge and transferrable skills in eDiscovery practice and procedures. Senior Paralegals will work collaboratively with the DOJ legal team and may be involved in duties related to the RECA Call Center, including answering applicant questions and interpreting RECA statute regulations.

Requirements

  • Requires paralegal certificate, or JD, or currently attending an ABA-accredited law school, having completed at least one year of study, or an equivalent level of legal training or experience; or an equivalent level of education may be substituted.
  • At least 2 years of litigation paralegal experience, including 1 year of experience in automated litigation support.
  • Sound working knowledge of federal and state court system, legal research procedures, and legal research resources.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw.
  • Hands-on familiarity with a variety of computer applications, including word processing, databases (such as document review and file management systems), spreadsheets, imaging, and hardware systems, e.g., Relativity, Excel, JEFS/Box.com, Word, Zoom, Teams, Power Point, and social media tools.
  • Hands-on familiarity with ESI tools and knowledge of eDiscovery procedures and resources.
  • Ability to consistently deliver highest quality work under extreme pressure.
  • Advanced skills with Excel.
  • Professional, can-do, customer-service attitude.
  • DOJ MBI must be obtainable (US citizenship required).

Responsibilities

  • Works under the direction of a Supervisory Paralegal or a Project Supervisor.
  • Compiling, preparing, and summarizing relevant materials for use by claims examiners and attorney.
  • Maintaining case files.
  • Performing simple legal and/or factual research.
  • Indexing, tracking and controlling case related materials (including claimant related files).
  • Reviewing documents for legal sufficiency according to established guidelines and criteria.
  • Answering questions from RECA applicants who call the RECA 1-800 line.
  • Interpreting regulations pertaining to the RECA statute.
