About The Position

This is a 100% in-office position that requires the ability to obtain and maintain MRPT facility credentials/authorization, for which US Citizenship is a prerequisite. The role operates under the direction of a Supervisory Paralegal or a Project Supervisor, with work products often developed with minimal direct supervision beyond established written guidelines. The Senior Paralegal performs a variety of tasks to support attorneys in litigation and legal document preparation.

Requirements

  • Paralegal certificate, or JD, or currently attending an ABA-accredited law school with at least one year of study completed.
  • At least two years of litigation paralegal experience.
  • At least one year of experience in automated litigation support.
  • Experience using Relativity.
  • Experience tracking incoming & outgoing productions.
  • Experience downloading & reviewing document collections.
  • Sound working knowledge of the federal and state court system, legal research procedures, and legal research resources.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw.
  • Hands-on familiarity with a variety of computer applications, including word processing, databases (such as document review and file management systems), spreadsheets, imaging, and hardware systems.
  • Hands-on familiarity with ESI tools and knowledge of eDiscovery procedures and resources.
  • Ability to consistently deliver highest quality work under extreme pressure.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain MRPT facility credentials/authorization.
  • US Citizenship is required for MRPT facility credentials/authorization.

Responsibilities

  • Compiles, prepares, and summarizes relevant materials for attorneys in discovery and for motions, briefs, and other legal documents.
  • Summarizes depositions and other transcripts.
  • Maintains case files.
  • Performs simple legal research.
  • Indexes, tracks, and controls document discovery, including documents produced and received.
  • Indexes, tracks, and exhibits and other materials at depositions and trials.
  • Prepares exhibit cross-references.
  • Assists attorneys in the courtroom.
  • Reviews documents for relevance and privilege according to established guidelines and criteria.
  • Compiles documents for FOIA, production requests, and Congressional inquiries.
  • Performs moderately complex legal research.
  • Synopsizes transcripts of hearings and oral arguments for attorney use.
  • Reviews case-related materials to identify potentially conflicting statements or areas requiring further investigation.
  • Writes preliminary drafts of simple legal memoranda and correspondence.
