About The Position

We are seeking a Senior Packaging Engineer to lead continuous improvement initiatives across filing and packaging operations. This role involves identifying opportunities to reduce downtime, improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), increase throughput, and strengthen quality. The Senior Packaging Engineer will lead capital equipment projects from concept through validation and manage equipment development for new products and expansions. This position requires strong technical expertise, project management skills, and the ability to mentor other engineers.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent experience — Mechanical or Industrial Engineering required.
7+ years of production/manufacturing experience, preferably in an FDA-regulated environment.
Strong experience with high-speed filling and packaging equipment.
Proven success improving OEE, throughput, reliability, and equipment performance.
Solid Lean Manufacturing and hands-on continuous improvement experience.
Experience managing capital projects, including projects up to $25M.
Experience with equipment selection, FATs, installation, qualification, and validation.
Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, blueprints, equipment manuals, and technical documentation.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, project management, communication, and leadership skills.
Working knowledge of FDA cGMP and OSHA requirements.
Strong Microsoft Office skills and experience with project/product costing.

Responsibilities

Lead continuous improvement initiatives across filing and packaging operations.
Identify opportunities to reduce downtime, improve OEE, increase throughput, and strengthen quality.
Lead capital equipment projects from concept and competitive bidding through FAT, installation, qualification, and production validation.
Manage equipment development and implementation for new products, processes, and capacity expansions.
Develop project cost estimates, timelines, and implementation plans.
Lead equipment and process qualification activities.
Drive Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) initiatives.
Partner with operations, maintenance, suppliers, customers, and other engineering teams to solve complex problems.
Provide technical expertise during line trials and customer interactions.
Mentor engineers and members of the Engineering & Maintenance organization.
Develop training materials and support training for operators, mechanics, and line leads.
Support cGMP, FDA, OSHA, and Health, Safety & Environmental initiatives.
