Texas Global is comprised of nine units, home to over 140 staff members, and continued growth of the organization is expected. Purpose Serve as a vital driver of campus engagement and community-building for our international student and scholar population, managing International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) strategic communications and signature programming that enriches the on-campus experience. This position reports to the assistant director for intercultural programs and initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and five years of progressively responsible professional experience or master’s degree with three years of experience.
  • Superior communication, writing, and editing abilities with a strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Experience developing, planning, and implementing student-focused programming, exhibiting strong project management skills.
  • Experience using social media to promote programming and services.
  • Commitment to programming and communication that support the international student and scholar community.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement creative solutions and take initiative while working as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven capability to multitask and keep projects well-organized and on deadline.
  • Strong computer and technological proficiency.
  • Equivalent combination or substitution of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in international education, higher education administration, student affairs, or similar field.
  • Advanced knowledge of and demonstrated active engagement in the field of international education.
  • Direct experience working with international students and scholars in a University setting.
  • Demonstrated experience creating and using a communication plan to promote activities and objectives effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Orientation and Intercultural Programming Lead ISSS orientation programs and forge strategic partnerships with colleges, schools, and departments to create cohesive orientation experiences for international students
  • Orchestrate pre-orientation programming and communications that set students up for success
  • In coordination with the assistant director, design and implement innovative programming that supports international students' and scholars' cross-cultural adaptation, sense of belonging, and family/dependent well-being through first-year initiatives, skill-building workshops, service-learning projects, and networking events
  • Drive continuous improvement through robust analyses and learning outcome assessments that inform program evaluation, refinement, and creation of new initiatives
  • Manage orientation and program budgets with fiscal responsibility and strategic planning in accordance with unit guidelines
  • Supervise and develop a graduate assistant and international orientation volunteers, fostering their professional growth while advancing orientation and intercultural programming goals
  • Communication Under guidance from the assistant director, partner strategically with Texas Global's Marketing and Communications team to develop and execute a comprehensive communication plan for ISSS, ensuring timely, consistent messaging across email, social media, web, and print platforms
  • Amplify visibility of ISSS programs, events, and services through compelling promotion and marketing across multiple channels
  • Craft engaging content for blogs, events, reports, briefings, newsletters, and other communication materials that resonate with international students and scholars
  • Ensure quality and consistency by reviewing and editing ISSS team communications to align with the ISSS communication workflow and Texas Global brand standards
  • Campus Outreach and Collaboration Build bridges across campus by collaborating with University units to assess, enhance, and develop support services addressing international students' and scholars' personal, social, academic, and professional needs
  • Serve as the face of ISSS at selected University committee meetings, events, and organizations, advocating for international community priorities
  • Foster a thriving international community through strategic liaison work with student government and student organizations
  • Team and Institutional Support Champion ISSS and Texas Global priorities through active participation in strategic initiatives and community-building events
  • Serve as backup to the assistant director during absences, ensuring continuity of critical operations
  • Drive innovation through collaborative participation in staff meetings and working groups focused on enhancing service delivery
  • Foster a sense of belonging by supporting and staffing programs that connect international students and scholars with each other and the greater University community
