Reporting to the Director, Mechanical & Systems Engineering, the Senior Opto-Mechanical Engineer is responsible for serving as Sea-Bird’s technical lead within Engineering on optics and opto-mechanical design. This role involves close collaboration with the Science Team and external partners on technology and new product development projects focused on optical sensing. The Senior Opto-Mechanical Engineer will act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on emerging technologies and tools, mentor and cross-train engineers and technicians, and lead complex technical problem-solving efforts related to optics and opto-mechanical design. The position also entails overseeing the design of Sea-Bird’s next generation of industry-leading optical sensors. This position is located in Bellevue, Washington and will be onsite.
