About The Position

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced logistics leader to take ownership of a complex, temperature-controlled supply chain within our Domestic Protein Division. The Senior Operations Manager will lead transportation, cold chain, warehousing, inventory, and intermodal activities across a global inbound and domestic distribution network, while driving service excellence, cost efficiency, continuous improvement, and strong cross-functional collaboration.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of progressive logistics and supply chain experience
  • 5+ years in a leadership role overseeing temperature-controlled transportation, ocean freight, warehousing, inventory, and intermodal operations.
  • Success leading teams in a fast-paced, high-complexity environment with accountability for service, cost, and continuous improvement.
  • Strong commercial acumen in negotiating ocean freight, transportation, and 3PL agreements and in managing vendor performance.
  • Deep knowledge of cold chain logistics, warehouse and transportation claims, and cross-border operations involving Canadian and US ports and cold storage partners.
  • Strong analytical, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to influence effectively across functions and levels.
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, XLOOKUP, data analysis, reconciliation, and the ability to build and maintain operational reports and KPI trackers.
  • Degree or diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 ERP, transportation management systems, and PowerPoint is considered an asset.
  • Industry certifications such as CSCP, CPIM, or CITT are an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end logistics for the Domestic Protein Division across ocean freight, over-the-road transportation, cold chain operations, warehousing, inventory, and intermodal flows to ensure reliable, cost-effective execution.
  • Oversee inbound ocean freight imports into Canada from global origins, including bookings, carrier performance, customs handoff, inland execution, and cold chain integrity through final warehouse delivery.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team by building accountability, strengthening capability, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and operational discipline.
  • Own logistics budgets, resource allocation, and performance outcomes with clear accountability for service, cost, and scalability.
  • Lead carrier, drayage, and 3PL sourcing activities, including RFQs, benchmarking, rate negotiations, and commercial agreement development across the US and Canada.
  • Oversee 3PL cold storage operations across Canada to ensure warehouse partners meet expectations for service, inventory accuracy, capacity, compliance, and cost performance.
  • Develop and manage cost-efficient temperature-controlled transportation solutions from 3PL sites to customer distribution centers across Canada, encompassing both FTL and LTL networks while meeting service, transit, and product integrity requirements.
  • Manage warehouse contracts, storage and handling rates, and annual commercial reviews to secure competitive pricing, clear service expectations, and strong vendor accountability.
  • Oversee warehouse claims and discrepancy resolution to ensure timely investigation, recovery, root cause analysis, and corrective action with external partners.
  • Lead annual inventory reconciliation with warehouse partners to ensure variances are investigated, resolved, and reported accurately in support of financial and operational integrity.
  • Drive strategic supply chain initiatives that improve agility, strengthen cold chain performance, reduce total landed cost, and support future business growth.
  • Establish and manage logistics KPIs, analyze variances, and implement corrective actions to improve service levels, cost performance, and execution consistency.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulations and company standards for temperature-controlled transportation, warehousing, inventory control, and claims management.
  • Partner cross-functionally with internal stakeholders and external vendors to support business priorities, resolve operational issues, and deliver resilient logistics solutions.
