About The Position

Spee Dee Delivery is seeking a Senior Operations Manager to oversee and coordinate the operations of three to five branch locations. This is an exempt salary position with a starting wage of $83,000-$93,000 per year, based on relevant experience, education, certifications, and comparison to other employees already in this role. The company was founded in 1978 and specializes in standard, next-day, ground delivery, with corporate headquarters in St. Cloud, MN. Spee Dee Delivery employs over 1,800 employees and has expanded throughout the Midwest.

Requirements

  • At least 21 years of age
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 5+ years of experience in the transportation industry and leadership preferred
  • Must hold a valid CDL Class A driver's license OR successfully complete Company paid CDL training program
  • Ability to pass a DOT physical exam
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds repetitively and up to 100 pounds occasionally
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Ability to work with all types to freight which include, but are not limited to hazardous material, perishable food and alcohol, firearms, ammunition, and live animals
  • Excellent management skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to influence, develop and maintain good working relationships across a variety of functional areas and customers
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, including meeting deadlines and achieving results
  • Thorough understanding of applicable federal, state, local and company safety policies
  • Demonstrate sound judgment and decision making considering relative costs and benefits of potential actions; critical thinking logic and reasoning to identify solutions
  • Proficient with computer-based management systems and Microsoft Office Suite or similar software
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening and a criminal background check

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Management or Operations Management or related field preferred

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and ensure all regional operations are completed
  • Prepare, manage, and track regional reports
  • Enforce safety, DOT, and company policies
  • Review and analyze expenditures and other financial information and provide cost-saving recommendations
  • Develop and implement goals and objectives for the region
  • Implement safety audits and train staff members on safety issues
  • Ensure that customer difficulties or problems are investigated and resolved
  • Conduct performance evaluations that are timely and constructive
  • Address and de-escalate all operational concerns
  • Actively participate in hiring and community outreach events in the region
  • Facilitate monthly leadership meetings
  • Hire, train, discipline, and onboard new staff
  • Perform other required duties as assigned
