About The Position

Hoplite Solutions is seeking a Senior Operational Systems Engineer to join their growing team on a contract in Chantilly, VA. In this position, the Senior level Operational Systems Engineer will be responsible for building DevOps pipelines using various cloud technologies and CI/CD tools, deploying infrastructure with automation tools like Linux scripting, Python, and PowerShell, and designing and integrating RESTful services using APIs. The role also requires strong oral and written communication skills for documentation, a willingness to learn new technologies, and providing emergency 24x7 on-call support to mission systems on a rotating basis.

Requirements

  • Active Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance, with polygraph
  • 7+ years’ background in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cyber Security, Cyber Forensics, Engineering, or other related discipline, or equivalent combination of education, technical certifications, training and work/military experience
  • 7+ years’ experience working in software engineering, application development and/or web application development and deployment
  • Experience in automating installation, monitoring, and O&M tasks using Linux scripting or Python
  • Experience working with Terraform, Docker and Kubernetes
  • Experience with Cron, iptables, permissions
  • Experience with OpenVPN, SELinux, Network File System (NFS) and Common Internet File System (CIFS)
  • Knowledge of web services, API, REST and RPC
  • Strong awareness of networking and internet protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, HTTP and distributed networks
  • Extensive experience with open-source technology, software development and system engineering
  • Experience with VMware technologies, to include vSphere 7/8, VSAN, and specifically VMware Horizon View Virtual Desktop Infrastructure
  • Proficiency in data security technologies, including encryption tools, access control mechanisms, and other data-centric security tools

Nice To Haves

  • System Administration and IT certification in Linux, Microsoft, or other network related fields
  • Proficiency in data security technologies, including encryption tools, access control mechanisms, and other data-centric security tools
  • Understanding of Windows Active Directory, as well as the ability to configure/edit Windows Active Directory and Domain Services

Responsibilities

  • Building a DevOps pipeline using AWS, Azure, Google technologies, Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD and tool like Ansible and Terraform
  • Building and deploying infrastructure using Automation tools such as Linux scripting, Python, and PowerShell
  • Using knowledge of APIs to design RESTful services, and integrate them with existing data providers, using JSON or XML as needed
  • Oral and written communication skills providing design, standard operating procedures and security documentation
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and help clients with their technical issues before escalating to senior staff
  • Provide emergency 24x7 on-call support to mission systems as needed on a rotating basis
