About The Position

Dominion Energy is seeking a Senior Occupational Health Specialist to join their team at the downtown Richmond, VA office. This role is responsible for recommending, developing, implementing, and coordinating corporate-wide occupational health policies, programs, and processes. The specialist will monitor their effectiveness to align with business objectives and legal requirements, staying updated on current practices and new developments to identify necessary improvements. Key responsibilities include identifying potential health and workers' compensation risks, implementing corrective measures, ensuring compliance with OSHA and company regulations, and maintaining Designated Employer Representative (DER) responsibilities, which includes on-call duties. The role also involves managing DOT drug and alcohol plans, maintaining and updating the drug and alcohol website, conducting related training, performing occupational health training and presentations, and administering public occupational health programs for external customers. Additionally, the specialist will recommend and develop cost control measures and long-range strategies to maintain competitiveness and achieve corporate objectives. This position requires conducting medical reviews, including direct conversations with medical providers, the Corporate Medical Doctor, and other nurses. The role involves close collaboration with Corporate Safety teams, Human Resources, and business leaders.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of nursing experience with at least 4 years of related experience such as occupational health, wellness programs, and preventative care.
  • Full, unrestricted license to practice nursing (RN - Registered Nurse) in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA laws.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good public speaking/presentation skills.
  • Excellent computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft applications.
  • Excellent planning and organizing skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to coordinate projects, including monitoring and follow up.
  • Applicants must not have any pending actions with any state Boards of Nursing or other regulatory authorities.
