Valar Atomics is redefining what's possible in energy with the mission to make clean, high-temperature nuclear power scalable. They are a team of builders, engineers, and operators focused on making nuclear energy fast to deploy, factory-made, and built for the real world. Their first pilot plant in Orangeville, Utah will demonstrate advanced nuclear systems and fuel fabrication. Joining Valar Atomics offers autonomy, ownership, and impact at every level. The Instrumentation, Control & Electrical (IC&E) organization, specifically the Reactor side of the program, is seeking Senior Nuclear I&C Hardware Engineers. These engineers will own the plant design and application of nuclear instrumentation for the high-temperature gas-cooled reactor program. The role encompasses neutron flux detection, radiation monitoring, reactor protection system sensors and signal chains, and process instrumentation. Responsibilities include instrument selection and specification, signal chain and installation design, cabling and grounding, environmental and radiation qualification, and commissioning. The focus is on applying vendor-supplied instrumentation in plant design, not instrument or detector development. This senior position requires end-to-end ownership of nuclear instrumentation scope, providing technical direction to vendors, contractors, and junior engineers.
