About The Position

We are sharing a specialised consulting opportunity for experienced Level 3 / Tier 3 network support engineers with deep expertise in enterprise networking, wireless infrastructure, packet-level troubleshooting, incident response, and root-cause analysis. This role supports the development of AI-driven autonomous networking systems using data from real production environments. Selected engineers will review network logs, configurations, telemetry, and event streams, classify network behaviours and incidents, and help structure high-quality datasets used to train advanced machine learning systems.

Requirements

  • Current or recent experience as a Level 3 / Tier 3 Network Support Engineer, Principal Support Engineer, Senior Network Engineer , or comparable escalation-focused role
  • Strong experience maintaining existing enterprise network infrastructure in production
  • Hands-on responsibility for final escalations, incident response, troubleshooting, RCAs, and on-call support
  • Direct experience supporting end-customer enterprise networks involving switches, wireless access points, and firewalls
  • Strong enterprise Wi-Fi expertise, including WLAN controllers and wireless troubleshooting
  • Hands-on knowledge of Cisco WLC, Aruba, Meraki , or comparable enterprise wireless platforms
  • Strong understanding of 802.1X, RADIUS , and enterprise authentication workflows
  • Practical packet-analysis experience using Wireshark, tcpdump, SPAN , or similar tools
  • Ability to interpret logs, configurations, telemetry, and event data from production systems
  • Interest in how infrastructure data is transformed into machine learning training inputs
  • Strong written English and ability to document technical reasoning clearly
  • This opportunity is best suited to operational network maintainers rather than professionals focused primarily on network architecture, cloud/SRE, SOC/security, or general IT helpdesk work
  • Candidates must be authorised to work in the United States or Canada without sponsorship
  • Individual contractor engagement only; corp-to-corp and agency billing arrangements are not supported
  • Work must be completed without using confidential or proprietary information belonging to any employer, client, institution, or other third party
  • H1-B and STEM OPT support is unavailable for this engagement

Responsibilities

  • Review production networking data including logs, configurations, telemetry, and event streams
  • Label and classify network behaviours, incidents, anomalies, and recurring failure patterns
  • Identify meaningful relationships between symptoms, network events, and root causes
  • Apply operational networking judgement to distinguish expected behaviour from genuine faults
  • Produce accurate structured annotations suitable for downstream AI and machine learning workflows
  • Apply senior escalation experience to complex enterprise networking issues
  • Analyse incidents involving outages, degraded performance, connectivity failures, and configuration problems
  • Reconstruct troubleshooting workflows from available network evidence
  • Identify likely root causes and appropriate diagnostic steps
  • Apply judgement developed through real-world final-escalation and on-call responsibilities
  • Perform packet-level reasoning using technologies and workflows associated with Wireshark, tcpdump, and SPAN captures
  • Interpret protocol behaviour and packet traces to diagnose network problems
  • Distinguish application, transport, routing, switching, and wireless-layer issues
  • Identify anomalous traffic patterns and protocol-level failure indicators
  • Translate packet-analysis findings into clear structured data and technical explanations
  • Analyse enterprise Wi-Fi environments involving access points, controllers, authentication, and client connectivity
  • Apply hands-on experience with platforms such as Cisco WLC, Aruba, or Meraki
  • Evaluate 802.1X and RADIUS authentication workflows
  • Diagnose roaming, association, interference, coverage, and wireless-performance issues
  • Assess wireless incidents using realistic enterprise troubleshooting practices
  • Work with networks involving switches, access points, firewalls, and related infrastructure
  • Apply experience supporting customer-facing enterprise environments such as retail, healthcare, financial services, manufacturing, universities, or hospitality
  • Evaluate incident-response and RCA workflows used to maintain production stability
  • Identify gaps or inconsistencies in operational records and troubleshooting sequences
  • Distinguish maintenance and support workflows from architecture or greenfield network-design activities
  • Help define schemas and structures for large-scale networking datasets
  • Translate raw infrastructure data into organised inputs suitable for machine learning systems
  • Identify networking concepts and operational signals that should be represented within training data
  • Collaborate with technical teams developing autonomous infrastructure capabilities
  • Contribute practical networking expertise to how AI systems learn to reason about production networks

Benefits

  • Independent contractor engagement
  • Fully remote
  • Approximately 30–40 hours per week
  • Working hours must overlap with the Pacific Time (PT) business day
  • Compensation: $40–$60/hour
