About The Position

The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for the design, installation, administration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of the network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, and Wireless systems. This role involves recommending and integrating new external department systems with the infrastructure as needed. The engineer will support infrastructure systems through performance monitoring, troubleshooting, upgrading, and designing our infrastructure systems. They will effectively communicate complex technical solutions and recommendations to various technical and non-technical audiences. This is an onsite role located at our facility in Flagstaff, AZ, with mandatory on-call duties requiring a response time of 30 minutes or less.

Requirements

Minimum 5 years of relevant IT experience
Thorough knowledge of Cisco and/or Aruba systems
Thorough knowledge of IP subnetting, VLAN, WLAN, WAN and LAN
Thorough knowledge of TCP/IP and OSI model
Thorough knowledge of Routing protocol – EiGRP, OSPF, BGP
Working knowledge of Cisco ISE or ClearPass
Working knowledge of Cisco Spaces or similar RTLS systems
Working knowledge of VMWare Virtual Networking
Previous experience with change management processes
High School Diploma or GED

Responsibilities

Sets the strategic direction and provides leadership for the design, engineering, and implementation of network infrastructure.
Develops methodologies for design, engineering, security, and testing.
Leads project work and ensures proper documentation with timely progress updates.
Responsible for life cycle tracking and replacement recommendations of systems.
Works closely with peers for mentoring and development through training and guidance.
Provides the highest level of support by leading the resolution of complex issues.
Leads installation and validation of network solutions including LAN/WAN switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless systems.
Communicates complex technical solutions/recommendations to various non-technical audiences.
Works with vendors to troubleshoot hardware, software, and circuit issues.
Monitors the performance and capacity of existing networks and provides report findings.
Reviews, creates, and updates network infrastructure documentation to reflect changes.
Recognizes and implements excellent cabling practices including cable labeling, routing, bundling, and management.
Demonstrates mastery of enterprise hardware and software and the ability to operate appropriate systems to support NAH.
Ensures appropriate knowledge base articles are created and maintained.
Follows ITIL/ITSM best practice standards for service delivery and service support.
Works well independently as well as in group settings and can work with individuals of varying technical familiarity.
Remains technically current on new technologies through reading, seminars, workshops, and vendor information.
Work is onsite with mandatory on-call. Required on-call response time of 30 minutes or less.
Awareness of IT Security policies and guidelines, responsible for updates to security configuration changes on supported systems to promote compliance to include appropriate audit trail.
Responsible for reporting any safety-related incident in a timely fashion through the Midas/RDE tool.
Attends all safety-related training programs, performs work in a safe manner, monitors work environment for possible safety issues and ensures others are also performing work in a safe manner.
Stays current and complies with state and federal regulations/statutes and company policies that impact the employee's area of responsibility.
Completes all company mandatory modules and required job-specific training in the specified time frame.
Trains and receives certification in relevant network infrastructure classes.
