About The Position

Comtech Allerium is hiring a Senior Network Engineer for its Infrastructure Operations team to deliver mission-critical Next-Generation 911 (NG911) solutions. The role manages on-premises and cloud-based networking supporting customers across more than a dozen global data centers, including systems serving millions of citizens and thousands of Emergency 911 centers across North America. The position is based in Broomfield, Colorado, or Stoughton, Massachusetts, with remote work also permitted. The engineer will support network architecture, deployments, upgrades, lifecycle management, and troubleshooting across development and production environments. The role also contributes to long-term infrastructure strategy, leads technical initiatives, supports high-availability operations, mentors engineers, and develops network automation and operational tools. Participation in a Network Engineering on-call rotation is required in a 24x7 mission-critical environment. The position requires a bachelor's degree in a related field and 8–10 years of hands-on network engineering experience, along with advanced networking certification(s) and cloud certification(s). Employment is subject to Comtech’s Drug-Free Workplace Program, including successful completion of pre-employment drug screening and possible random, reasonable-suspicion, and post-incident testing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 8–10 years of hands-on network engineering experience, preferably in large-scale enterprise or service provider environments.
  • Strong hands-on experience with enterprise and carrier-grade networking technologies, including Cisco and Juniper routing and switching platforms, Juniper or Palo Alto firewalls, and F5 or Citrix load-balancing solutions.
  • Deep understanding of BGP, OSPF, MPLS, SD-WAN, route redistribution, traffic engineering, and high-availability network design and implementation.
  • Experience supporting hybrid cloud networking environments, with understanding of AWS networking services, cloud connectivity, routing, network segmentation, and security principles.
  • A track record of solving complex technical problems in a collaborative, fast-paced setting.
  • Ability to work independently, drive initiatives to completion, and make sound technical decisions in high-pressure situations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts, recommendations, and operational impacts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • CCNP, JNCIP, or equivalent advanced networking certification required.
  • AWS Practitioner or higher-level cloud certification required.
  • Advanced experience with Cisco and Juniper routing and switching, Palo Alto firewalls including Panorama, and F5 or Citrix load balancers.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug screening as a condition of hire; employees may also be subject to random, reasonable-suspicion, and post-incident testing.

Nice To Haves

  • CCIE or JNCIE certification.
  • Experience with network automation, scripting, or Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Python, Ansible, Terraform, or APIs.

Responsibilities

  • Support network architecture, deployments, software upgrades, lifecycle management, and troubleshooting across development and production environments.
  • Provide technical direction and establish engineering standards across multi-vendor platforms.
  • Contribute to long-term infrastructure strategy and lead initiatives that improve scalability, security, automation, and operational efficiency.
  • Serve as a senior technical escalation point for complex operational issues, critical incidents, and major infrastructure upgrades, driving resolution while maintaining availability, resiliency, and reliability.
  • Mentor engineers and promote engineering best practices, operational excellence, and knowledge sharing.
  • Identify network bottlenecks, resiliency gaps, and performance improvement opportunities, and partner with cross-functional teams to implement scalable solutions.
  • Develop and enhance network automation, monitoring, and operational tools using Infrastructure-as-Code and scripting methodologies.
  • Participate in the Network Engineering on-call rotation and provide leadership during high-severity incidents.
