Senior Network Engineer
About The Position
The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for day-to-day network infrastructure and server operations and assists the IT HelpDesk as a Level 3 resource. The role designs, implements, administers, secures, monitors, and optimizes enterprise network infrastructure, while supporting IT initiatives and coordinating with vendors and cross-functional teams. The position also handles infrastructure installation and maintenance, patch management for network equipment and servers, Opti9 backup and disaster-recovery testing, and hardware configuration in Zoho Site 24x7. The engineer monitors Zoho Site 24x7 daily and opens tickets for outages. The employee may need to perform essential duties during evening and weekend concerts or events and must be able to work all shifts and weekends or holidays as required. This is an onsite, full-time position.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- At least 5 years of hands-on network engineering experience, focused on enterprise-level networks.
- Advanced knowledge of routing protocols such as OSPF, BGP, and EIGRP, and switching technologies such as VLAN, STP, and VTP.
- Experience with firewalls, VPNs, and network security tools.
- Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work all shifts and weekends or holidays as required.
- Ability to sit, stand, lift, carry weight, kneel, bend, and grip tools during a full eight-hour shift.
Nice To Haves
- Cisco experience is preferred.
- Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or higher, such as CCIE.
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or equivalent.
- AWS Certified Advanced Networking – Specialty or similar cloud certifications.
- Proficiency with network monitoring tools such as SolarWinds, Nagios, Wireshark, and Site 24x7.
- Strong understanding of cloud networking, such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, and SD-WAN technologies.
- Leadership and mentoring capabilities.
Responsibilities
- Plan, configure, implement, and support scalable, secure network solutions that meet business needs.
- Evaluate new technologies and recommend upgrades or replacements for legacy systems.
- Manage, monitor, and maintain LAN, WAN, WLAN, VPN, and cloud-based networks.
- Oversee configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers.
- Implement and maintain network security protocols, including firewalls, intrusion prevention/detection systems, and VPNs.
- Ensure compliance with relevant security standards, such as PCI.
- Identify and resolve network performance issues to support high availability and reliability.
- Conduct root cause analysis of network outages and implement corrective actions.
- Develop and maintain network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and procedures.
- Generate reports on network performance and security metrics.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on IT initiatives and projects.
- Work with vendors to ensure timely deliverables and positive outcomes.
- Resolve incidents and report incidents in daily scrum.
- Perform infrastructure installation and maintenance.
- Manage patching for network equipment and servers.
- Perform Opti9 backups and Opti9 disaster-recovery testing.
- Configure hardware in Zoho Site 24x7, monitor it daily, and open tickets based on outages.
- Assist the IT HelpDesk as a Level 3 resource.
