About The Position

Astreya Partners, LLC is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to design, implement, and support large-scale data center and backbone network infrastructure. This role focuses on switching, routing, and data center design, including spine-and-leaf topologies, advanced routing protocols, and high-availability architectures. The engineer will architect and document LAN/WAN connectivity, inter-data center peering, and backbone integration to support scalable cloud and enterprise environments. Responsibilities include creating data center layouts, maintaining detailed drawings, managing white space design, conducting capacity planning, and deploying/troubleshooting network equipment across multi-vendor platforms. The role involves collaborating with external partners, researching new technologies, evaluating vendor submissions, providing technical leadership, and traveling to sites for assessments and migrations. Additionally, the engineer will lead documentation efforts and work with cross-functional teams on design documents and automation workflows.

Requirements

  • Network engineering experience
  • Designing and implementing data center or POP site networks
  • Working with routing protocols including BGP, OSPF, EVPN, VXLAN, MPLS, and EIGRP
  • Hands-on work with multi-vendor platforms such as Cisco, Juniper, and Arista (e.g., QFX, ASR, Nexus, and 7808 series)
  • Use of tools including AutoCAD, Excel (BOM and patch-panel matrices), Python (basic scripting), Ansible, and Visual Studio
  • Fiber and cabling technologies such as MPO/MTP, LC-LC, CWDM/DWDM, DR4/FR4 optics, patch panels, and structured cabling (Base-8, Base-12)
  • Designing and supporting compute/GPU fabrics

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and support data center and backbone network infrastructure, including spine-and-leaf topologies, advanced routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EVPN, VXLAN, MPLS, EIGRP), and high-availability architectures.
  • Architect and document LAN/WAN connectivity, inter–data center peering, cross- connects, and backbone integration to support scalable cloud and enterprise environments.
  • Create data center layouts and infrastructure designs using AutoCAD.
  • Maintain detailed drawings, rack elevations, logical/physical diagrams, and cable matrices using AutoCAD and Visio.
  • Manage white space design, including rack layouts, structured cabling, hot/cold aisle containment, branch circuit distribution, power pathways, and airflow optimization.
  • Conduct capacity planning, traffic engineering, and scalability analysis to optimize network performance and support future growth.
  • Deploy, configure, and troubleshoot switches, routers, and firewalls across multi-vendor platforms (Cisco, Juniper, Arista, Palo Alto, Aruba).
  • Collaborate with colocation providers, facilities teams, and internal stakeholders to define technical requirements and deliver compliant infrastructure designs.
  • Research and evaluate emerging networking, optical transport, and structured cabling technologies, contributing to global data center and network infrastructure standards.
  • Coordinate and evaluate vendor RFI/RFP/RFQ submissions for networking hardware, cabling solutions, and infrastructure services.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers, ensuring best practices in network design, deployment, and documentation.
  • Travel to data center and POP sites to perform network assessments, audits, migrations, and engineering validation for new builds and expansions.
  • Lead the review, development, and maintenance of comprehensive data center and network documentation.
  • Work with stakeholders and cross-functional teams on projects and initiatives to develop low-level design documents and automation workflows to improve deployment efficiency.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
