About The Position

Kinetic IT is seeking a Senior Network Engineer for a key technical role supporting a large state government customer in East Perth. This position offers a hybrid office and work-from-home split and requires participation in a shared after-hours on-call roster once a month. It is a hands-on senior engineering role where technical judgment is valued across complex enterprise network environments. The engineer will work across networking, security, wireless, and cloud-connected platforms, focusing on improving resilience, performance, and future readiness. Key responsibilities include leading technical discussions with customer stakeholders, providing practical insights for planning and delivery, and actively participating in the design, support, and improvement of enterprise network infrastructure. This includes routing, switching, firewalls, load balancing, wireless, and cloud networking services. Collaboration with the customer on priorities for practical network solutions, shaping recommendations, delivery approaches, and next steps through workshops and meetings is essential. The role also involves providing senior-level technical input across various platforms and supporting security, segmentation, access control, wireless, and hybrid connectivity environments. Contribution to Business As Usual (BAU) support, incident response, change activity, and after-hours on-call support is also expected.

Requirements

  • Strong customer-facing communication skills, with the confidence to lead technical conversations, explain options, and support roadmap planning with senior stakeholders.
  • Solid hands-on experience with Cisco Catalyst switches and routers, Cisco Nexus switches, and enterprise routing and switching environments.
  • Experience with Fortinet FortiGate firewalls, FortiManager, and FortiAnalyzer.
  • Practical experience with F5 BIG-IP LTM and enterprise load balancing concepts.
  • Working knowledge of Cisco ISE, Cisco Nexus Dashboard, Cisco Catalyst Wireless 9800 Controllers, and Cisco Meraki Wireless.
  • Experience across Azure Networking and AWS Networking, particularly where cloud platforms integrate with enterprise or hybrid network environments.

Nice To Haves

  • Wireless redesign experience, including assessing coverage gaps and contributing to wireless network design from the ground up.

Responsibilities

  • Leading the design, support, and ongoing improvement of enterprise network infrastructure across routing, switching, firewall, load balancing, wireless, and cloud networking services.
  • Collaborating with the customer on priorities for practical network solutions, helping shape recommendations, delivery approaches, and next steps through workshops, meetings, and regular stakeholder conversations.
  • Providing senior-level technical input across Cisco Catalyst and Nexus platforms, Cisco ISE, Cisco Nexus Dashboard, Fortinet security tooling, F5 BIG-IP LTM, Azure Networking, and AWS Networking.
  • Supporting uplift and remediation activities across network security, segmentation, access control, wireless, and hybrid connectivity environments.
  • Contributing to BAU support, incident response, change activity, and after-hours on-call support as part of a shared roster.
