About The Position

The Senior Network Engineer reports to the MSTP Project Manager and receives work direction derivatives from the Communications and Information Systems Lead. This role involves leading the planning, design, integration, and lifecycle support of MSTP network and Unified Communications (UC/RTS) systems for daily operations and large-scale training events. The engineer will provide advanced expertise for LAN/WAN architecture, configuration, deployment, optimization, and troubleshooting, while maintaining boundary defense, monitoring, and firewalls. Responsibilities include implementing QoS, integrating multisite collaboration technologies, overseeing COMSEC-related network operations, deploying and configuring VoIP, VTC, and collaboration platforms, and developing high-quality technical documentation. The role also involves producing performance assessments, leading monitoring and analysis, conducting pre-event testing, developing cross-boundary network solutions, and coordinating with IT leadership and cybersecurity teams. Additionally, the Senior Network Engineer will provide senior technical guidance to engineering teams.

  • Provide advanced engineering expertise for LAN/WAN architecture, configuration, deployment, optimization, and troubleshooting.
  • Maintain boundary defense, monitoring, and firewalls across security and network enclaves.
  • Implement QoS statements to improve performance of telephony and computer networks, and integrate multisite collaboration technologies—voice, video, A/V, and web services—into cohesive enterprise solutions.
  • Oversee COMSECrelated network operations, including installation and operation of encryption devices and protection of classified KEYMAT.
  • Deploy and configure VoIP, VTC, collaboration platforms, and realtime communication services across classified and unclassified environments.
  • Develop and maintain highquality technical documentation, including network diagrams, configuration baselines, SOPs, and training materials.
  • Produce dashboards, alerts, reports, and architectural roadmaps to assess performance, availability, and future network requirements.
  • Lead SNMP/SolarWindsbased monitoring and analysis to ensure network health, resolve performance issues, and preempt outages.
  • Conduct preevent testing and validation to identify issues and ensure optimal network performance for MSTP exercises.
