About The Position
Emergent Technologies Inc., a veteran-owned technology solutions provider based in Herndon, VA, is seeking a highly experienced Senior Network Engineer to lead the design, deployment, and support of complex network infrastructures. This on-site position offers the opportunity to work on impactful projects supporting government and enterprise clients. We’re searching for a Network Engineering leader—with both hands-on chops and strategic vision—to join our team in Herndon, VA.
Requirements
- Minimum 11 years of relevant experience in network design, deployment, and operations.
- Strong track record of delivering complex, high-availability networking solutions.
- Expert understanding of network architecture, design, and implementation.
- Deep experience with routing (EIGRP, BGP, ISIS) and switching protocols (STP, LACP, VTP).
- Hands-on with network automation (e.g. scripting, orchestration, APIs).
- Proven experience in cloud networking (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Working knowledge of software-defined networking (SD‑WAN) technologies.
- Experience deploying and operating MPLS networks.
- Excellent communicator who can bridge between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.
- Exceptional depth in network architecture and design for large-scale or multi-domain environments.
- Demonstrated success in diagnosing, resolving, and preventing complex network issues.
- Experience with enterprise or government-scale network deployments.
- Open, curious mindset with a willingness to embrace new technologies.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, deployment, and support of complex network infrastructures.
- Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to junior engineers.
- Author clear, comprehensive designs, implementation plans, and technical documentation.
- Present network designs and recommendations to review boards and senior stakeholders.
- Rapidly learn and master new technologies and paradigms.
- Diagnose, resolve, and prevent complex network issues.
- Influence architecture, strategy, and technical direction.
