About The Position

This is a 6-12 month contract position for a Senior Network Design Engineer specializing in Data Center networking with Cisco/Arista technologies. The role is 100% remote. The engineer will be responsible for mapping data center networking solutions to business technology requirements, designing data center constructs, supervising implementation, verifying functionality, and acting as a technical consultant. They will work with line-of-business and business technology staff to understand and meet project requirements, engage in high severity production incidents, and adjust designs to meet business needs for cost, reliability, and functionality. The role also involves assisting in training junior associates, engaging with program management and product engineering teams, and reviewing system documentation.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of Data Center Network Engineering experience
  • Cisco expertise
  • Arista expertise
  • Automation skills (Arista CVP/Python/Ansible/YAML) - must have at least three of these four
  • Good work history
  • Experience in Financial Services industry
  • End-to-end knowledge of Data Center technical environment
  • History working in or supporting data center network infrastructure environment for large enterprise or carrier
  • Worked with switching equipment for a minimum of 7 years (architecting or designing network solutions)
  • Clear understanding of current and upcoming trends in the data center networking area including: Virtualization, TRILL/Fabric Path, Blade technologies, GRID computing, Low Latency switching, and Software Defined Networking (SDN)
  • Thorough understanding of switching/routing family of products and their functionality
  • Adept at taking business requirements and mapping them to technical designs for implementation
  • Able to assist in resolution of complex issues during high pressure situations
  • Able to communicate with a wide range of staff, from technology implementation through management levels
  • Capable of quickly learning new technologies and procedures
  • Willing to train others in procedures mastered as part of implementations

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for mapping data center networking solutions to business technology requirements.
  • Leverages Data Network Standards to design data center constructs that meet technical and functional Line-of-Business requirements.
  • Develops technology designs, supervises the implementation of these designs, verifies their proper functionality, and acts as a technical consultant for any issues encountered over the project lifecycle.
  • Works with line-of-business and business technology staff to understand and meet project requirements.
  • Acts as a trusted partner to provide solutions to their needs.
  • Engages in high severity production incidents and problem tickets in support of any data network redesign requirements.
  • Adjusts designs to meet business-required levels of cost, reliability, and functionality.
  • Understands, formulates, and communicates complex designs with other technology partners within TI.
  • Assists in the training of junior associates.
  • Engages program management and product engineering teams for process and application improvement opportunities.
  • Reviews system documentation for accuracy and updates as necessary.
  • Provides feedback to product teams as to the catalog of standard products, and business requirements for changes to the catalog.
