About The Position

The Senior Network Administrator is responsible for the effective administration, configuration, installation, provisioning, monitoring, and troubleshooting of network infrastructure systems to ensure availability, capacity, and performance. This role involves performing assigned duties under general supervision, collaborating with peers and management on operational tasks, system enhancements, and project activities. The position supports the enterprise Cisco network infrastructure, including routing and switching, wireless networking, SD-WAN, network monitoring, and branch/ATM connectivity. Key responsibilities include installing, configuring, maintaining, patching, upgrading, and troubleshooting network systems, developing and maintaining configuration standards and operating procedures, and coordinating with vendors for technical support and upgrades. The role also involves monitoring network health, responding to incidents and escalations, leading root cause analysis for major incidents, and acting as an escalation point for complex network issues. Additionally, the Senior Network Administrator will create/change/delete user accounts, assist with escalated support cases, conduct after-hours maintenance, participate in a 24x7x365 on-call rotation, and travel to remote locations up to 50% of the time. The position also includes performing other duties as assigned and complying with regulatory compliance and training requirements.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field or equivalent years of experience required
  • 3-5 years of relevant network infrastructure experience required.
  • Cisco CCNA Routing and switching required
  • Intermediate knowledge of routing, switching, LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, OSI, VLANs, trunking, NAT, QoS, DHCP, DNS, HSRP, IPsec, EIGRP, OSPF, and BGP.
  • Foundational to intermediate knowledge of SD-WAN, branch connectivity, circuit failover, DIA, broadband, MPLS, cellular connectivity, and enterprise network monitoring.
  • Foundational to intermediate knowledge of Python and Ansible.
  • Foundational to intermediate knowledge of monitoring applications: Live Action, Thousand Eyes, Solarwinds, and other products.
  • Foundational to intermediate knowledge of wireless networking, including Aruba, Cisco Wireless, access point monitoring, client troubleshooting, and RF basics.
  • Foundational to intermediate knowledge of incident, request, task, and change management workflows; device lifecycle support; configuration validation; backup review; and standardization efforts.
  • Foundational to intermediate knowledge of network documentation, configuration checklists, diagrams, branch/ATM support documentation, standard operating procedures, automation, reporting, and operational efficiency practices.
  • Intermediate knowledge of SNMP, logging, packet capture, operating systems, servers, storage, audit/security best practices, and data center standards including cabling, power, fire suppression, and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for effective administration, configuration, installation, provisioning, monitoring and troubleshooting to ensure availability, capacity and performance of network infrastructure systems is achieved.
  • Perform assigned duties as listed in RACI model(s) under general supervision from manager.
  • Collaborate with peers and manager on operational tasks, system enhancements and project activities.
  • Support enterprise Cisco network infrastructure, including routing and switching, wireless networking, SD-WAN, network monitoring, branch/ATM connectivity, and network operations.
  • Install, configure, maintain, patch, upgrade, and troubleshoot network systems and related infrastructure.
  • Develop and maintain configuration standards and operating procedures.
  • Coordinate with vendors for technical support and upgrades.
  • Monitor network health, availability, alerts, logs, performance, capacity, and system integrity; provide KPI and metrics reporting as needed.
  • Respond to incidents, problems, service requests, and escalations; monitor ITSM queues and prioritize resolution appropriately.
  • Lead root cause analysis efforts for major incidents.
  • Act as an escalation point for complex network issues.
  • Develop and maintain configuration standards, operating procedures, documentation, runbooks, and process improvements.
  • Conduct after-hours maintenance.
  • Coordinate with team members, vendors, engineering teams, and service stakeholders for support, upgrades, maintenance, and project work.
  • Create, change, and delete user accounts per request.
  • Provide assistance for support cases escalated by Network Administrators I & II
  • Conduct after-hours maintenance, participate in the on-call rotation supporting the production environment 24x7x365, and travel to remote office and ATM locations up to 50% of the time.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Complies with regulatory compliance and assigned training requirements including but not limited to BSA regulations corresponding to their specific job duties. Failure to do so may result in disciplinary and other employment related actions.
