About The Position

Boston Globe Media is looking for a senior-level .NET developer with proven experience to join their engineering department as a member of the Consumer Revenue team. You will work on a team of front-end and back-end developers to deliver a high quality ecommerce experience for bostonglobe.com and affiliated properties. We are looking for someone with an enthusiasm to produce clean, performant, well documented code. The ideal candidate has a willingness to adapt, be audience focused with a curious mindset and is committed to creating an inclusive work environment.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
5+ years of experience building applications with .NET.
Strong understanding of the .NET framework, C#, and object-oriented programming.
Detail-oriented with a focus on delivering high-quality and efficient software solutions.
Proficiency in database design - experience with MySQL, Postgres, SQL Server or other relational SQL database (creating tables, views, stored procedures).
Experience developing REST APIs using modern-day best practices.
Strong knowledge of software development best practices and design patterns.
Knowledge of web development using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
Knowledge of version control systems such as Subversion and Git.
Familiarity with the agile methodology of software development.
Efficient communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
A desire to continuously learn new skills and to mentor junior team members.

Nice To Haves

Experience with data analysis and making data-driven decisions.
Experience with performance analysis and tuning of database and web applications.
Experience using Piano ID for identity management.
Familiarity with React and the Node.js ecosystem.

Responsibilities

Develop efficient, scalable software solutions using the .NET framework and related technologies.
Collaborate with business analysts and project managers to understand application requirements.
Take ownership of projects from start to finish, including feasibility, solution design, scoping and delivery.
Integrate software components with third-party systems and services.
Provide ongoing support and maintenance for existing software applications.
Conduct code reviews, unit testing, and debugging to ensure software functionality.
Stay informed about advancements in the .NET framework and related technologies.
Be a self-starter able to work independently as well as to work with the team in an Agile (Scrum) workflow.
