About The Position

Ateko is seeking a Senior MuleSoft Solution Architect to lead critical client integration engagements. This role involves transitioning into leading a small team of 2-3 integration engineers while maintaining hands-on architectural responsibilities. It's a strategic, high-visibility consulting position where you will partner directly with client stakeholders, from Enterprise Architects to CTOs, to architect scalable, API-led solutions. The ideal candidate is an AI-first developer who utilizes AI coding assistants for tasks like writing boilerplate code, debugging, and accelerating daily work. You will serve as the primary technical advisor for customers and a key stakeholder in the relationship with Salesforce. Your responsibilities will include advising clients on architecture and building an internal team to help clients maximize their MuleSoft investment.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of hands-on integration experience.
  • At least 3 years deeply focused on the MuleSoft Anypoint Platform.
  • MuleSoft Certified Developer (Level 1) is required.
  • Deep, practical understanding of DataWeave beyond basic troubleshooting, capable of handling complex payload mappings (JSON, XML, CSV, Cobol, flat files, database record sets etc.).
  • Strong working knowledge of Salesforce Connectors, Salesforce APIs (Bulk, REST, SOAP, Streaming), and how MuleSoft interacts with Salesforce limits.
  • Actively use AI tools like GitHub Copilot, Cursor, ChatGPT, or MuleSoft Einstein in daily development workflow.
  • Experience with ETL strategies and tools, understanding how to move large volumes of records efficiently.
  • Familiarity with deploying MuleSoft applications using CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps) and Maven.
  • Ability to clarify complex architectures for business stakeholders using simple visual diagrams and work with IT teams to resolve delivery blockers.
  • Genuine interest in how systems communicate and a proactive approach to learning.
  • Experience in a Consulting or Professional Services environment is a major plus.

Nice To Haves

  • MuleSoft Certified Platform Architect (Level 1) is highly preferred.
  • Exposure to or strong interest in Salesforce Data Cloud (Ingestion API).
  • Ability to write custom Java classes/connectors when out-of-the-box components fall short.
  • Experience with MuleSoft Composer or MuleSoft RPA.

Responsibilities

  • Translate business process gaps into integration patterns and explain the rationale and functionality of API-led approaches to both executive and technical teams.
  • Define integration best practices (governance, error-handling, reuse), establish architectural standards for security, performance, and multi-cloud governance, and train internal developers.
  • Step into a lead role for 2-3 engineers, managing their code reviews, technical onboarding, and delivery.
  • Collaborate with Salesforce Architects to design secure, efficient data sharing and ingestion strategies across the Salesforce ecosystem, particularly Salesforce Data Cloud.
  • Consult on API limit avoidance and design data flows that minimize message consumption.
  • Lead the design of RAML/OAS specifications in Anypoint Design Center before coding begins, ensuring contracts are solid, reusable, and readable.
  • Take ownership of complex DataWeave transformations, optimizing performance and maintainability.
  • Architect for failure by designing holistic error-handling, retry mechanisms, and alert frameworks, and defining/implementing API security policies (e.g., OAuth 2.0, JWT, Client ID enforcement).
  • Establish centralized monitoring and logging standards.
  • Architect container-ready solutions leveraging microservices/SOA design patterns and modern CI/CD processes for rapid deployment and scaling, potentially using Kubernetes (Anypoint Runtime Fabric RTF).
  • Lead the strategy for MuleSoft-first complex, high-volume data migrations (ETL), partnering with the Salesforce team to define data quality and reconciliation processes.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for integration challenges, using an engineering mindset and AI assistants to script ad-hoc integrations, troubleshoot data integrity, and clear technical blockers.
  • Be deeply curious about AI and its impact on MuleSoft implementation.
  • Share best practices on effectively using AI tools to speed up MuleSoft delivery without compromising security or code quality.
  • Actively explore and pilot new features (MuleSoft Flex Gateway, API Governance, Universal API Management) and share knowledge.
  • Provide practical experience guiding junior or mid-level developers, with a clear interest in stepping into a direct management role.
  • Explain technical concepts clearly to both developers and client IT teams.

Benefits

  • Opportunity to be part of a fast-growing professional services organization working with large and exciting companies.
  • Flat, modern, high-integrity work culture with direct access to all levels of the team.
  • Medical and dental benefits.
  • Allowance to help set up a home office.
  • Flexible remote work options.
  • Paid time for training.
  • Reimbursement for certifications.
  • Ability to share passion across the company blog and social accounts.
  • 20 hours of paid volunteer time per year.
