About The Position

Monks is seeking a seasoned Senior Motion Artist / Editor for an embedded creative team producing rapid-turn editorial, digital, and marketing content. This motion-first, client-facing role works on-site alongside senior client stakeholders and calls for high autonomy, executive presence, and end-to-end ownership. The role centers on motion design, animation, and editorial storytelling, including pacing, kinetic typography, visual rhythm, and audio synchronization, while also requiring practical multidisciplinary execution across Figma, layout and vector adjustments, sound, and footage. The position is temporary and full-time, expected to run through March 31, 2027. It requires working on-site at the client’s office in Menlo Park, California, four to five days per week. The role collaborates with a distributed creative team across multiple locations and shifts, with availability during core client working hours and flexibility around urgent priorities. The Senior Motion Artist / Editor owns assets from brief through final render and export, develops polished visual stories from static designs, brand guidelines, and raw footage, and translates technical product narratives into clear motion graphics. The role also integrates approved generative AI and AI-assisted production tools, builds reusable motion toolkits, completes basic sound and color finishing, and maintains rigorous quality control and confidentiality when handling sensitive materials.

Requirements

  • 6–8+ years of experience in motion design, video editing, or post-production within an agency, technology company, or high-velocity in-house studio.
  • Deep expertise in Adobe After Effects, Premiere Pro, and modern motion workflows, with strong skills in kinetic typography, visual hierarchy, composition, and editorial pacing.
  • Practical working fluency in Figma and static design fundamentals, including refining assets, adapting layouts, and creating supporting graphic elements.
  • Hands-on experience integrating modern AI creative tools—such as generative video or image tools, automated rotoscoping, voice or audio enhancement, and AI-assisted editing—into daily post-production workflows.
  • Demonstrated ability to present work to client leads, guide feedback sessions, and make creative decisions independently.
  • Proven ability to animate technical UI, product features, infographics, and data visualizations clearly and dynamically.
  • Experience building and working with brand motion guidelines, reusable MOGRTs, and component toolkits.
  • Ability to manage simultaneous rapid-turn deliverables and adjust quickly to changing priorities without compromising craft.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with proactive cross-functional collaboration habits.
  • Ability to work in person in a client-facing role, during core client working hours, with flexibility around urgent priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Own deliverables from brief through final render and export, leading with animation and editing while handling light design adjustments, minor sound design, and color finishing.
  • Transform static design assets, brand guidelines, and raw footage into polished visual stories, with attention to kinetic typography, transitions, and timing.
  • Present motion tests to client leads, explain editorial and animation decisions, and resolve ambiguity independently in real time.
  • Integrate approved generative AI video tools, AI-assisted editing workflows, and model-driven asset generation into production workflows.
  • Animate technical product flows, abstract concepts, UI interactions, and data charts into clear, engaging motion graphics.
  • Work in Figma and within design systems, independently sourcing assets and making layout or vector adjustments as needed.
  • Establish reusable motion components, animation presets, and templates to streamline rapid-turn production across the distributed team.
  • Synchronize animation and edits with voiceover, sound effects, and music, and apply basic audio mixing to deliver broadcast-ready audio.
  • Perform quality checks on project files, timing, framing, audio levels, brand compliance, and platform aspect ratios before review.
  • Maintain confidentiality when handling unreleased product announcements, sensitive brand intellectual property, and strategic materials.
  • Manage multiple rapid-turn deliverables, adapt to shifting priorities, and collaborate proactively across functions.
