About The Position

We’re looking for a highly skilled Senior Residential Mortgage Underwriter to join our team and play a key role in driving portfolio growth while delivering exceptional service to our broker partners. This is a fast-paced, high-impact role where your expertise in credit adjudication and deal structuring will directly influence business success. As a Senior Underwriter, you’ll manage the full mortgage lifecycle—from initial application to funding—while balancing risk, speed, and client experience.

Requirements

• Strong expertise in residential mortgage underwriting and credit decisioning
• Proven ability to manage a high-volume pipeline while maintaining accuracy and service standards
• Excellent judgment in risk assessment and exception handling
• Strong communication skills and confidence working directly with brokers
• Solid understanding of mortgage policies, compliance, and AML/ATF requirements
• A proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and efficiency

Responsibilities

• Underwrite an average of 3 deals per day, including reworks, conditions, and exception cases
• Negotiate, structure, and adjudicate mortgage applications in line with lending policies
• Collaborate with brokers and Business Development Managers (BDMs) via phone and queue-based deal assignments
• Evaluate and approve exception requests, providing clear rationale for escalations when needed
• Issue mortgage commitments with appropriate conditions
• Review all documentation to ensure compliance with credit, regulatory, and AML requirements
• Partner with funding teams to ensure smooth, on-time closings
• Work cross-functionally with Partner Experience, QA, and Funding teams to deliver a best-in-class experience
