About The Position

The Senior Mortgage Processor role is responsible for gathering the necessary paperwork and documentation required for someone to apply for a mortgage loan. Their duties include carefully reviewing complex mortgage applications to confirm all essential fields have been appropriately completed as well as organizing additional application materials. This role will serve as the main point of contact for the borrower, real estate agent, mortgage loan originator, and mortgage underwriter, from origination through closing. Senior Mortgage Processors possess a detailed understanding of program guidelines and agency requirements and are subject matter experts.

Requirements

  • Three or more years of experience of mortgage loan and/or processing experience or training.
  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Experience with different types of mortgage loans, escrow and ARM requirements.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to influence stakeholders and navigate sensitive or confidential discussions with professionalism and diplomacy.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and web-based tools
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal partners.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and adapt in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews underwriting decisions, prepares decision letters, and works with applicants to obtain any additional documents needed for final approval.
  • Works with outside vendors to obtain appraisals and title documents in a timely manner while also staying in contact with the borrower and internal partners in order to complete the loan process.
  • Processes more complex mortgage loan applications, including, but not limited to, conventional, government, bond/DPA, and new construction.
  • Reviews credit reports, income and asset documentation, and confirms all documentation meets requirements to move forward with an underwriting decision.
  • Demonstrates a high level of communication utilizing phone and email tools, providing service excellence at all times with the borrower as well as internal and external members.
  • Finalizes the loan processing stage by preparing loans for submission to Closing Department. This includes, but is not limited to, obtaining homeowners insurance, payoffs, and coordination with Title Department as well as with internal partners in setting closing dates.
  • Must comply with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.
