About The Position
SAIC is seeking a Modeling Engineer-Scientist to support the Next Generation Submarine Battery program in Crane, IN. This position is 100% remote; however, the candidate must be able to travel to Crane, IN approximately twice per month.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related scientific discipline and nine (9) years of experience; Master's degree and seven (7) years of experience; PhD and four (4) years of experience
- Experience with thermal modeling
- Proficiency in MATLAB
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team‑based, technical environment
- Must be able to obtain a Secret security clearance; can start once interim clearance is granted.
Nice To Haves
- Experience in electrical and chemical modeling
- Familiarity with ANSYS thermal modeling tools
Responsibilities
- Develop, enhance, and validate thermal and electrochemical models to support battery system design and performance assessment
- Apply MATLAB for model development, simulation, and analysis
- Support modeling activities related to multi‑physics interactions within NiZn, Lead‑Acid, and Lithium battery systems
- Assist with developing complex thermal and electrochemical models
