About The Position

This position serves as a Senior Military Planner and Subject Matter Expert (SME) within the Headquarters Air Force A3 Readiness Division (HAF/A33R). The primary purpose of this role is to provide expert military analysis and planning for readiness-related policies, plans, and instructions, ensuring alignment between Office of the Secretary of War (OSW), Joint Staff, Air Force readiness objectives, and Air Force Major Commands (MAJCOMs). The individual will be responsible for interpreting higher-headquarters guidance, analyzing its impact on Air Force readiness, conduct cross-functional planning across the Joint Staff and A-Staff, and coordinating plan implementation with MAJCOMs and relevant stakeholders. This role is critical for enhancing the effectiveness of readiness reporting and ensuring the Air Force is prepared to meet global force management demands.

Responsibilities

  • Lead operational design and strategic planning efforts across the Air Force enterprise to identify and resolve persistent, malignant readiness reporting challenges.
  • Facilitate and lead HAF A33R policy working groups and Integrated Planning Teams (IPTs). Synchronize representatives from HAF directorates, MAJCOMs, and functional communities to deconflict equities, build consensus, and ensure cohesive, synchronized policy implementation.
  • Draft, review, edit, and formally staff official Air Force policy documents. This includes authoring Air Force Instructions (AFIs), manuals, and guidance memorandums related to readiness to ensure standardized reporting criteria across all functional areas.
  • Coordinate directly with the Office of the Secretary of War (OSW), Joint Staff, and other Service-level equivalents on the development and revision of overarching readiness policies. Actively defend and ensure Air Force equities, operational constraints, and Air Force Force Generation (AFFORGEN) realities are accurately represented in Joint guidance.
  • Analyze complex, enterprise-wide readiness data to identify systemic shortfalls and operational risks. Synthesize this data to draft memorandums, point papers, and strategic briefings, providing actionable advisement to General Officers, Senior Executive Service (SES) members, and the Chief of Staff of the Air Force (CSAF).
