About The Position

The Senior Merchant leads category strategy and financial management for complex product lines, driving customer-focused decisions across multiple channels. This role oversees supplier negotiations, pricing, and promotional strategies while managing a high-performing team to achieve business objectives. By leveraging data insights and collaborating cross-functionally, the Senior Merchant ensures alignment with company goals and delivers value through effective assortment, inventory, and channel strategies. The position requires strong leadership, analytical skills, and the ability to execute strategic initiatives that enhance customer experience and support long-term growth. The Connected Tech merchandising team is dedicated to delivering exceptional products, ecosystems, and services to customers. Collaborating with leading and innovative Consumer Electronics brands, the team curates a distinctive assortment that positions Walmart as a preferred destination. This team emphasizes strategic category management, supplier partnerships, and financial oversight to drive business success. Members leverage data insights and negotiation skills to optimize product offerings and pricing. Focused on operational excellence and team leadership, the group supports continuous improvement and effective execution of merchandising strategies across multiple channels.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Merchandising or related field and 4 years’ experience in merchandising, buying, financial planning, operations, or related area. OR 6 years’ experience in merchandising, buying, financial planning, operations, or related area.
  • 1 years’ supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute category strategies, including pricing, promotions, and assortment to drive business growth.
  • Manage supplier relationships, lead negotiations, and oversee supplier performance to ensure alignment with business goals.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team, providing coaching, feedback, and career guidance.
  • Analyze customer behavior, market trends, and financial data to inform decision-making and optimize category performance.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to align channel strategies and support supply chain and merchandising operations.
  • Oversee profit and loss management, budgeting, and forecasting for assigned categories.
  • Utilize data and digital tools to enhance category insights and drive continuous improvement.
