About The Position

As a Senior Merchant, your expertise, vision and strategy will allow you to see the products you buy come to life on walmart.com. You will work across all facets of the business, including but not limited to category strategy, design, team management, budgeting, and forecasting, modulars and assortments, replenishment, and supplier negotiations. Leveraging your advocacy and negotiation skills with the access and scale of the Walmart system, you’ll make a direct impact on the business and help families all over the world save money and live better. Along the way, you’ll be guided by our deep-rooted culture and have the support you need to do your job, learn, grow and succeed. As a Senior Merchant you will lead a cross-functional buying team, establish strategy and manage budgets to drive profitable growth, develop robust partnerships with suppliers, and use vision and creativity to impact the customer experience that compliments stores through eCommerce channels. You know your customers’ needs and suppliers better than anyone else and are constantly thinking about what is next for your business. Success in this role requires tenacity, an analytical mindset, influence, ability to meet deadlines, and a competitive spirit. You’ll use your executive presence to work with suppliers at all levels and navigate interesting, complex challenges.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Merchandising or related field and 4 years’ experience in merchandising, buying, financial planning, operations, or related area OR 6 years’ experience in merchandising, buying, financial planning, operations, or related area
  • 1 year of supervisory experience
  • World-class people leader with experience leading teams through times of transformation
  • Comfortable managing a multimillion-dollar business with profit and loss responsibility
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, enjoying being the CEO of your business
  • Customer-focused, understanding customer behavior across stores and eComm channels, and making customer-centric recommendations and decisions across all touch points
  • Proven digital acumen and understanding of how to leverage it to drive an omni channel business
  • Data savvy: ability to analyze performance, understand trends, and translate results into strategies
  • Strong communication skills enabling concise conveyance of complex topics to various audiences
  • Tenacious, dedicated, and thrives working with ownership, autonomy, and a healthy dose of competition
